About this ebook

The comings and goings of the project are starting to take their toll on Levi, not that he'd expect anyone to shed any tears over his situation and currently full house. Still, he's starting to feel the wear from the demands that seem to never cease. And yet, he can't quite say no.
As he tries to figure out a better balance to his life, one that would bring him more peace, he has to navigate even more demands on his time. Some certainly fun and worthwhile demands to be sure as the second wave picks up pace.
The return of an old face might just be the cure he needs.

Author

JC Winchester

JC Winchester grew up reading just about anything he could get his hands on, from cereal boxes to the Hardy Boys. He loves most forms of fiction, particularly fantasy and military sci-fi, with some of his favorite authors including John Ringo, Robert Jordan, and Tom Clancy. After several years in the Navy he enrolled in a community college and eventually to a university in the mountains. There he settled down, savoring a life not filled with the noises of the city but instead the sounds of bellowing cattle. When not writing he can usually be found taking care of the horses on his place, riding, hiking, fishing, or the never ending task of splitting firewood.

There was no doubt about it, Levi missed Amber. Not that she had gone far away, merely to another room in the house. But she’d always been his constant companion, up for any hijinks or down to give him a needed cuddle without another expectation.

The birth had been a rough one. With some of the technology and knowledge having been lost due to the war, she had been unable to deliver their child vaginally and had a last-minute decision to have a C-section. Both mom and child had come out of the surgery safely, but it had left Amber unable to do much for herself and for her baby while her body healed. Alisa had stepped in as a mother figure, doting over both Amber and both of their babies.

Levi, of course, did what he could to help with the children and with taking care of Amber when he could. But between the demands of school and of his responsibilities in the project, it meant that he spent excessively less time with them than he would have liked.

To add to his struggles, Cheryl and Nikki had taken off as soon as Nikki had finally become pregnant. Not that it was necessarily unexpected, after all the pair had made it well known that they weren’t exactly in it for more than the financial gains. Still, the suddenly empty room and lack of two more people in his life left him feeling a tad off.

The only constant had been Zhang. Heavily pregnant, she’d taken on the tasks left by the others and in her own way reveled in the chance to take the lead. She was, in no way, as submissive as Amber was and for many tasks that was a good thing. With an artisan eye she set about turning the house into a complete home, one that was furnished to be supportive through both pregnancy and rearing the kids.

Still, that left her quite busy and when she wasn’t busy, she was fairly exhausted from
