Materials used
Crochet hook:
- 3 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Yarn:
For the hat (blue color):
- One Ball of Adriafil Genziana (50 g/1.76 Oz; 185 m/202 yds; main color); 100% Wool (merino).
For the rainbow, pom-pom and clouds:
One ball of each color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet and white).
- Adriafil Mirage (50 g/1.76 Oz; 125 m/136 yds); 55% Wool - 45%Acrylic.
You can choose yarn you like.
Other:
- Scissor, tapestry needle.
Gauge
10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) = 24 dc x 14 rows of sc
Abbreviations
blo – back loop only
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
htr – half treble crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
tr – treble crochet
How to read the pattern
Each step is separated by a comma.
When there is a stitch followed by a number, that number of stitches needs to be worked in the same stitch. Example: dc 2
in means that you have to crochet 2 dc into the same stitch.
When there is a number followed by a stitch, that stitch needs to be worked over that number of stitches. Example: 6 dc
that is 1 dc in each of the next 6 sts.
When you see brackets [] in the pattern it means that you need to work the content as a set. Example: if you see [1 dc, dc 2], it means that you have to repeat the set between the brackets as indicated in the pattern.
The numbers in the () at the end of each round is the total number of stitches in that round. These numbers are there just to check your work.
Notes
The first ch 1 from the beginning of the rounds doesn’t count as a stitch.
The first ch 2 from the beginning of the rounds doesn’t count as a stitch.
Try hiding the tales by crocheting over them.
Stitches and techniques
Half treble crochet (htr)
Yarn over twice, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through two loops (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through remaining loops (1 loop on hook).
Treble crochet (tr)
Yarn over twice, insert hook in indicated stitch of the previous round, yarn over and pull through (4 loops on the hook), yarn over and draw through the first 2 loops, yarn over again and draw through the next 2 loops, yarn over again and draw through the last 2 loops on the hook.
Invisible stitch
Complete the last st in the round, cut the yarn (leaving a 10 cm/4 in tail) and pull it out, insert hook in both loops of the first st of the round, pull the tail through the loops and then insert the hook in to
