    Pattern Notes

    Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

    Each square on the chart depicts 1 single crochet.

    Read the chart as follows:

    Odd-numbered rows: Read and change colors from right to left. Even-numbered rows: Read and change colors from left to right. Change color in the single crochet before the color change is shown.

    Carry color not in use on wrong side to bring it across and/or up to the next stitch/row where it will be used. For large areas of the same color, it is best to attach small balls of yarn on each side of the large area instead of working over the color; for example, use 1 small ball of bumblebee on each side of the heart.

    Row 1 (RS): With bumblebee, ch 43, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, turn. (42 sc)

    Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, sc in first 34 sc, in last sc change color to banana (see Pattern Notes, illustration and Chart), sc in next sc, in last sc change color to bumblebee, sc in rem 7 sc, turn. (34 bumblebee sc, 1 banana sc, 7 bumblebee sc)

    Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 6 sc, change color to banana, sc in next 3 sc, change color to bumblebee, sc in next 10 sc, change color to snow, sc in next 7 sc, change color to black, sc in next 14 sc, change color to bumblebee, sc in rem 2 sc, turn.
