About this ebook

Some find love and keep it a lifetime. The rest of us search our entire lives and maybe find it once.

These poems are a hodgepodge of personal meanderings about the passions in my life - the good times, the bad times. Writings from over thirty years of adulthood and heartbreak as a horse girl, and random thoughts that inspired me in the moment to write them down, for whatever reason. Here's to all the girls that feel a little broken with sadness behind their smiles, and the horses that make us feel whole for at least a little while....

Horses, Heartbreak And Falling In Love - F.J. Thomas

HORSES, HEARTBREAK AND FALLING IN LOVE

A random personal collection from a broken lifetime

    By F.J. Thomas

WARNING - DARK & LIGHT AHEAD!

    ––––––––

Some find love and keep it a lifetime. The rest of us search our entire lives and maybe find it once.

I’ve had my fair share of heartbreaks. My biography could read like the beautiful Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Taylor that the world makes fun of because she was married eight times. Only problem is I was never a star. Far from it, but I had – and have – the same passion for what could be, and a sadness hidden beneath a smile.

These poems are a hodgepodge of personal meanderings about the passions in my life - the good times, the bad times. Writings from over thirty years of adulthood and heartbreak as a horse girl, and random thoughts that inspired me in the moment to write them down, for whatever reason.

If you read through these and can relate, if nothing else, I hope they help you realize you’re not alone.

    THE FILLY

    I’m like a little filly

That’s been brought up from the field

    Broken to one master,

    Taught to bend and yield.

I was content to have a warm stall

Good care, some hay and grain.

I no longer wanted to romp and roam

    Upon a wild green plain.

But then one day as fate would have,

The gate was left wide open

And I, that little filly fair

Took off wild, and free.....and lopin’

    THE COLLECTION

    NOTHING LEFT

    I’ve given everything

    I can possibly give

    I’ve cried in secret

    When no one else knew

    I begged for mercy

    To let tears dry up

Only to hear silence in response

And yet, those think they know me

    Say it’s happened overnight.

They think I’ve lost my mind

    And surely
