CAN WE UNCOVID THIS - Andreas Matheou Xenophontos

    CHAPTER ONE

    Covid-19 - Positive

COVID VOLUNTEER: Dear Rabinder Mishra, your COVID-19 sample of regd. No 435427 is tested POSITIVE. We request you to isolate yourself until the ambulance arrives.

His eyes popped out of his sockets, looking at the text he received from his ward volunteer. Rabinder, who loved to be called Robby, turned twenty-five last week. He was a party animal. There wasn't a single bad thing left, which he didn't do except rape, murder, and sex trafficking. He had this little respect for girls, and only went with one night stands with an explicit clause—no strings attached. His motto was, 'There's nothing like love. Everything is sex and money.'

He was 6'2 in height with a stout personality, and any girl would fly into his arms, just by his looks. He was in and out of jail multiple times and didn't even spare the lady jailers. He was a massive flirt, but not a pervert. As mentioned above, he had respect for girls.

Last week at his birthday party, he invited around fifty people and wanted to know the person who transmitted the virus. He was asymptotic and only got tested when his friend, Jonu, insisted.

Apart from COVID-19, Robby was also suffering from a rare disease called Dissociative Identity Disorder. There was a reason why he got diagnosed with this condition.

Robby's family was poor, and his father was an alcohol addict with no job. His mother was a maid and used to work in five houses a day to lead the family. His father always stole money from Robby's mother and bought alcohol. Mr. Mishra wanted more money to drink, so he came up with a plan one fine day. That was to run a prostitute business with his wife. Different men would come to their house, do their thing in front of Robby and leave after paying some money to Mr. Mishra. Robby was just seven and couldn't understand what was happening.

Robby's mother was depressed and devastated by her husband's cruel intentions. One day, she ran away with the seven-year-old Robby away from her husband, but Mr. Mishra quickly found them and dragged them to their poor single-roomed house. He thrashed her with his belt several times and showed her pure torture. Seeing his mother was getting beaten, little Robby cried his lungs out. Mr. Mishra was irritated with Robby's continuous cries and whooped his arse with his belt. Mrs. Mishra couldn't take the torture anymore and hanged herself, but the worst thing was that Robby witnessed his mother taking her life away. He was shocked and couldn't shed a single tear in agony.

Mr. Mishra married for the second time and brought home one lady Satan. She hated Robby to the core and never treated him as a human. She tortured him in every possible way and made sure he starved. Mr. Mishra never cared about the way his new wife treated his son. All he cared for was alcohol. Robby tried to run several times, but his father always brought him back. As days went by, he got used to the worst parenting. When Robby turned eleven, Mr. Mishra died due to liver disease, and his stepmom kicked him out of the house. He then joined a government school comes hostel, and that was when he got diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

Robby was confused after looking at his surroundings one fine morning in his hostel room, and he looked in the mirror before cringing in disgust. Rishi—his alter—alias Robby, was never a fan of long hair. He cut his hair and made it short and neat. After switching, Robby was confused how his hair got short. He would appear in different locations at different times and Rishi felt the same as well. He searched about his symptoms and found a way to communicate with his alter Rishi. Since then, both Robby and Rishi communicated via notes and audio recordings. They always argue and fight with each other for silly things even after fourteen years. Wherever Robby went, he made sure to record so that if he switched suddenly, Rishi would understand why he was there.

Unlike Robby, Rishi was a good man. He was a believer of love and wanted to become an Aviator. The only backlog about him was he always forgets to record. Rishi insisted Robby on stopping the bad things, but the latter never cared about his words. Robby helped Rishi with his studies and arranged money, of course, by doing illegal activities. As Rishi dreamed, he passed the aviator exam, but the officers declined to offer him a job because of his multiple prison records. Robby bribed the officers with a colossal lump-sum and successfully got a job as an aviator in Asian airlines. Even though Robby didn't like to fly the plane, he did so for Rishi. He loved his alter and would do anything to see a smile on his face. Robby never mentioned about his disorder to anyone except Jonu. He didn't mean to reveal, but the situation demanded. Jonu suspected something was wrong with Robby and observed him for a few weeks. He concluded that he had Multiple personality disorder after searching on the internet and watching YouTube videos about the same.

‘Congratulations,’ said Jonu, smiling like an idiot at Robby.

‘It's all because of you. I never wanted to host my birthday party in this pandemic. Now see, I'm a patient now. Are you happy?’ asked Robby angrily.

‘Yes. I'm happy. Because we're going to stay in the hospital together.’

Robby looked at his friend wide-eyed, and quickly regretted after realizing that Jonu had tested
