    Abigail walked through the narrow hallway of her home, the walls decorated with a lifetime of photographs encased in dusty frames she lacked the strength to tidy at regular intervals. She paused for a moment to stare at a picture taken a few months after marrying. Back then, her face looked young and full of energy. She was an old woman now. While the scenery on the road of life was priceless, the journey wasn’t kind with the wear-and-tare it inflicted. The aches in her muscles and joints worsened as the years passed. Wrinkles spread like a wildfire—a constant race with the graying hair. Still, at age eighty, Abigail could walk around unassisted—not everyone her age or younger could say that.

    She stepped into the large living room thinking of all the memories created there. Her children tromped about the floor from toddler-hood until moving out on their own. There were the more recent memories of her grand kids and great-grand kids playing with the same toys their parents used to. All the moments were special to her, but one particular memory—earlier than her post-marriage is ones—drifted back to her thoughts.

    Her childhood had it's fair share of struggles, but the memory of interest transpired during a particular hard time in life. Abigail was eighteen, a senior in high school when things were at their worst. At her lowest point, a miracle happened. Something unexpected and wonderful that changed her life forever. With a smile, she walked to a cupboard and pulled out her senior yearbook—yellowed with age. She began flipping through the pages.

    She heard some footsteps from behind, and turned to see her husband of sixty years. He had little hair now, grew a little on the heavier side, but still just as perfect as the day they married. Hey, beautiful, he leaned over the couch in slow motion and kissed the top her head. What are you up to?

    Just flipping through a yearbook, she said as he shuffled around and sat beside her. She stopped on a certain page. The young man on the picture wore a football jersey. Matthew Sawyer ...
