Gerald Stubbs felt the suffocating dread from the hearts of his team, like a thick fog spewing from the hotel’s busted ventilation system. Being their leader, he shared their anxiety—though it was his duty to shoulder the burden of confidence even if it was a farce. In a few hours time the showdown would unfurl with the nefarious Stan Porter and his gang of blubbery miscreants. One building with food lining its shelves remained in the city of West Fallsville. It was steal the rations for themselves or perish in the attempt, because without trying it would be a consequence worse than death.
In the simpler times of the past. Gerald imagined the world ending in numerous ways—each consequent scenario more unbelievable than the last. An asteroid, perhaps a great flood. Even a zombie apocalypse would have been preferable, not to mention less disgusting than the present day nightmare! A quick end to humanity would have been welcome, but the world died kicking and screaming.
Lipomeganious … the probable last words uttered by the swollen and chapped lips of the billions who succumbed to the frightening weeks of pain and misery the disease wrought.
What a wonderful idea it was at the time!

The self replicating nano-tech’s intent was to not only augment liposome production, but infiltrate bone and muscle tissue in order to promote a more balanced growth. Not only was it a valuable tool for treating certain disorders, it was a panacea for world hunger.
