    I

    dedicate this book too:

The law enforcement and first responders

that put their lives and their family’s lives in

danger to protect the lives of the citizens of

    the United States.

It was a long day for Sergeant Peter. He is on a cold case where a gang member had broken out of prison and is a very dangerous man. This gang member had started strong in the drug field and has killed many teens.

On his way home, all the Sergeant could think was how close he is to finding his suspect

He now approaches his house. Once inside, he cheerfully announced, Honey, I’m home, His very pregnant wife, Peggy, appears. He carefully picks her up and gives her a huge kiss. Boy, do I miss you, he whispers.

I miss you, too, babe, Peggy replies. Any word on your drug dealer?

No, honey, but we’re getting close. I hope you weren’t overdoing it today. Remember what the doctor said.

I know. It’s hard doing anything with Sally, the maid you hired, watching out for me. She makes me lay around, and the only thing she lets me do is get the mail. Oh, on that subject, a weird letter came for you. It has no return address. Peggy hands the letter to Peter.

Peter opens and silently reads the letter. I know where you live, and you don’t need your wife and your unborn baby dead. Get off the Simon drug case or there will be hell to pay.

Peter quickly shoves the letter in his pocket. Honey, I have to run back to the office. I forgot my wallet. He touches his back pocket.

Peggy asks worredly, Do you have to? Dinner will get cold.

Yes, dear. I will be right back. Peter walks out the door, gets in his car, moves his wallet over, which was sitting on his seat, He tears out of the driveway, heading to his office.

When he gets to his office, his associate asks, What are you doing back here, Peter?

Come in my office, Ted. replied Peter as they headed to his office.

What’s going on, Peter? Ted wonders. I received a letter from Simon. He’s threatening my family. You need to run a test on this letter and do it ASAP.

Maybe we need to put your wife in witness protection. Ted offered.

Not now. I don’t want her knowing about this yet. She is due in a month, and this would get her upset. Ted, let me know what you find out, and call my cell. I don’t want Peggy knowing. I have to get home before she gets curious. Peter quickly heads out the door.

On the way home, Peter keeps thinking to himself, How am I going to keep them safe? Peter’s cell phone rings.

Hello? Peter answers. Ted, what did you come up with?

Ted replies, Boss, good news. I think we have a link to our man.

Peters’s face lights up. ‘What do you mean?"

He left one spot where we were able to get a fingerprint. We did the forensic test on him, and it came up with a Paul Peters. It’s got to be our link to Simon. He has a location also. I have my team on their way there now.

Peter says, with relief in his voice, Keep me posted as soon as you hear anything.

    Ted replies, I will, boss.

Peter hangs up the cell phone and thinks to himself, This is just a start, but Peggy is still in danger. He pulls in his driveway, gets out of the car, and walks in." Peter is greeted at the door by Sally.

Hi, Peter. How are you? Sally asks.
