Mia's Life: Best Friends for Never
()
About this ebook
When IRL YouTube star Mia Fizz gets involved in a school play, the drama doesn't stay onstage…
YouTube sensation Mia Fizz loves three things: her family, the Miacorns (her fans!), and her BFF, Briony. When Briony is chosen to direct a play for her after-school club, she asks Mia to oversee the makeup design—a natural fit for a YouTuber whose makeup looks get over a million views. But when some of the actors start looking to Mia for advice on their performances, Briony isn't so thrilled. That's her job, after all.
With hurt feelings on both sides, backstage drama, and a premiere fast approaching—not to mention an endorsement deal gone sideways thanks to a super-embarrassing unicorn costume situation—will Mia and Briony be able to resolve their differences so that she show can go on?
Mia Fizz
Mia Fizz is a sixteen-year-old social media star with over a million subscribers on her YouTube channel alone. She rose to fame thanks to her unwavering honesty and openness to talk about teen issues. When not vlogging, she likes to cook, rock climb, and paint.

Mia, are you for real?
I glanced over at what my best friend, Briony, was holding. It was a sparkly purple tank top covered in unicorns.
The Miacorns love that shirt!
I insisted.
Briony raised an eyebrow. "Um…let’s put that in the maybe pile." She tossed it onto my bed.
The Miacorns were what I called my YouTube subscribers—the people who tune in almost every day to see me living my life, accidentally embarrassing myself, and having fun figuring things out.
I considered the Miacorns my friends, but I only had one true BFF—Briony, who was currently helping me clean out my closet. It was practically overflowing, and Mom had insisted I needed to go through my clothes to donate some, pass some down to my little sister Sienna, and keep some. I especially wanted to make a pile of clothes I could use for future videos on Mia’s Life, my mega-popular YouTube channel.
Ooh,
said Briony, pulling out a blue-and-white-striped dress. You have to let me borrow this.
Done. Also,
I said, pulling out a pink skirt, I think this is yours, isn’t it?
Yes! I lent it to you forever ago and was wondering where it went!
Briony grabbed it. I need it. That’s my good luck skirt.
What do you need good luck for?
I asked.
She bit her lip. Today, I applied for the fall play at school.
You auditioned?
I asked. I was super surprised—Briony had never mentioned wanting to act before!
No,
she said, I applied to be the director! There’s one student director who gets to help the theater teacher, Mrs. Cerutti. She wants to let the students be in charge of as much as possible. I love the idea of giving the actors feedback…sort of being in charge. But in a behind-the-scenes way.
"Briony! That is so cool!"
I know. But a bunch of people applied,
she gulped. Who knows if I’ll get it?
I’d never seen her look so nervous.
Well, you found your good luck skirt,
I said firmly. I’m sure you’ll get it the job!
We kept digging through my clothes—a harder job than it sounds like! Mom was right; I had way too much stuff. By the time we were done, I had three massive piles marked Donate, Sienna, and Keep.
Whew,
said Briony. I should get going. I have a math quiz tomorrow, and I’ve barely started studying. I just can’t stop thinking about the student director job. So much more fun than pre-algebra!
Ugh. Good luck,
I said. I was homeschooled, so I very rarely had to spend my days sitting at a desk doing things like math quizzes.
Briony’s phone buzzed, and her eyes darted down to check it.
OMG,
she said quietly, sitting on my bed.
What?
I asked. I flopped down next to her.
I have an email from Mrs. Cerutti. Hold on.
She sat there, reading, her eyes getting wider.
Briony!
I whined. The suspense is killing me!
She looked up and slowly smiled. She wanted me to know tonight—she made her decision. I’m the student director!
We shrieked, jumping up and down. This was going to be so incredible for her!
I can’t believe it,
Briony said happily.
I can,
