No two families are the same, but every family is special.
When Mrs. Mack says she will soon be a grandmother, her students realize that teachers have families just like they do! Suddenly everyone in the class wants to share information about his or her own unique family. Sarah tells of flying to China with her parents where they adopted her sister, Rachel. Christopher tells about his parents' divorce. They are still a family, but now he and his brother spend a few days every week at their dad's apartment. Nick lives with his parents, five siblings, and his grandparents―they need to order three large pizzas for dinner! And Hannah tells how she loves to garden with her two mommies.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5"All Families are Special" is an informative book that teaches readers about the different types of families. The language is descriptive, giving brief, but informative information about each individual family told from the perspective of the individual students. This book is based on real people from a real elementary school. The book pushes readers to think about their own families, and the special things that make their family unique and special. Aside from being a fun and entertaining read, it is also accurate, and it presents the information in a clear, easy to understand way. The message is the most important part of this story: everyone has a family, and each one is different in its own special way.
