Fate's Love Story - Deke Rivers

    Definition of Fate

    Prophetic Declaration, Oracle,

The power or agency supposed to determine the outcome of events before they occur, destiny

Something inevitable, supposedly determined by this power.

What happens, or has happened to a person or entity…lot, fortune

    Final outcome

    Death, destruction, doom

    Any of the three fates

    The Three Fates

In Greek and Roman mythology, the three goddesses who control human destiny and life are Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos.

Fate refers to the inevitability of a course of events as supposedly predetermined by a god or another agency beyond human control.

Destiny also refers to an inevitable succession of events as determined supernaturally or by necessity, but often implies a favorable outcome (i.e., it was her destiny to become famous).

Portion and lot refer to what is supposedly distributed in the determining of fate, but portion implies an equitable appointment and lot implies a random assignment.

Doom always connotes an unfavorable or disastrous fate.

    Now to reality…

Fate and I are old friends. She has sent me all around the world to discover destinations I never knew existed, to do things I never realized I could do, to accomplish dreams I never though were possible, that as a youth, I never realized could be achieved. Yes, I became an achiever!

So like myself, when you look back at what you have accomplished, you too will be amazed at what you have done!

Initially, the road looked pretty straight and narrow, but the various world events took care of that. Now the road isn’t so straight anymore. The decisions made by others related to you, often your own parents, and those decisions that you had no control over, alter the journey again and again, but you need to stand firm and become that survivor, as those others that influenced your path and direction one by one disappear and leave you open to the future—going, going, and going, like that Energizer Bunny that the media had created!

Yes, there is no time to sit and contemplate what happened, as you were not a part of that. Now forgetting the past, you, the survivor, have to keep going!

One must never overlook the fact that the path or direction of one’s life is never completely in one’s hands, for fate is undeniably the greatest force, as she takes control. She is infinite power, and she dictates one’s ultimate destiny. But remember, my dear friend, you too can manipulate fate to your own advantage.

Yes, believe me, it is possible. The secret is you should never ever stop trying or fighting for what you believe in. You can never give up! If you do, fate will consume you, and ultimately fate will win.

    —Mikk Sepp

    Preface

To begin with, one has to appreciate that we, as individuals, are given separate characteristics and separate physical attributes. All females and males are all separate entities, and yes, we are all different!

When we look at people, some, in our eyes, are just average, everyday people and don’t warrant a second look. Others, we find, are a little more appealing for a variety of reasons. Others are interesting. Then still others are beautiful from a male’s point of view, or handsome from a female’s point of view, and finally others, we find…well, exceptionally gorgeous or exciting or whatever descriptive word one wants to use or apply! They are individuals who have the physical characteristics to really turn on one of the opposite sex, specifically turn you on!

But it is all mental, seeing someone who is inexplicably so appealing to you, so exciting to your senses, and so physically stimulating. Yes, it could happen anywhere—on the street, at a party or function, on a train, perhaps a stewardess on an aeroplane, the wife of a business associate, someone in a shopping mall, one of your friend’s girlfriends, a model parading on a runway, a professor in some university, or a college girl or guy at a football game somewhere, anywhere. Yes, anywhere really. Perhaps they too see you staring at them and return your smile with a smile of their own.

How this phenomenon happened, you cannot explain, except that it does happen.

Remember back in school, we all had a boyfriend or girlfriend that we fancied, whether you ever spoke to them or spent time with them was really irrelevant. The fact was your brain had picked one out of a crowd, that young girl or young boy who was appealing to your senses.

But there was something magical about this fascination, their face, their body, that smile, the look, their eyes, their hair, that something special that did something to your brain. Yes, it was reality, and it does happen.

To this day, I can still remember these beautiful young schoolgirls, even their names, and that was a long, long time ago.

    Yes, there was

    Pamela Moffat

    Jan Drury

    Kay Staunton

    Judy Christmas

    Robyn Frary

    Barbara Rathburn

I would have loved to have connected with them, to be introduced to them, to get to know them much more intimately, but that was not possible; in fact, connecting rarely happens.

    The way she walks

    The way she talks

    How long can I pretend

Oh, I can’t help it, I’m in love

With the girl of my best friend

    Oh yes, the inevitable

    Her lovely hair

    Her skin so fair

I could go on and never end

Oh, I can’t help it, I’m in love

With the girl of my best friend

    (Elvis Presley)

And, yes, complications also arose, but that that was life, and so it continued.

Then as reality stepped in, you were no longer able to pursue that magical feeling, for numerous reasons. Often it was taboo, like a wife or husband of a good friend or business associate, someone on a busy street, a beautiful face and a sensuous smile of someone on an adjacent train, going in the opposite direction, or someone in a crowded elevator, and he or she got off before you could say anything.

Or possibly your family relocated to another town or city or perhaps another country, over which you had no control!

The reasons are and were endless, but the fact was still, yes, in life there were those of the opposite sex that could really affect you, and often you were powerless to do anything about it, except dream about what could have been.

    Could have been so beautiful

    could have been so right

    could have been your lover,

    Every day of my life

    (Tiffany)

    Chapter 1

    American Medical Association

In 1847, after a report by Nathan Smith Davis, now sometimes called the Father of the AMA or the American Medical Association, a group American physicians met in Philadelphia and formed the AMA, a national professional medical organization, the first of its kind in the world to establish uniform standards for medical education, training, and practice. Ever since, the AMA Code of Medical Ethics has dictated the professional conduct for practicing physicians.

    Chicago, Illinois

The American Medical Association Headquarters Building

Look, Eileen, let’s check the computer and our overseas doctors’ registry list and have the computer select, say twelve overseas doctors at random, and then send them an invitation to join us in New York City for our August conference, and don’t forget to include first-class airfare coupons and the New York City hotel coupons, for three nights, said the director, Reginald Walker.

We want to make a real impression on the overseas practitioners, but let’s make sure they are English-speaking doctors. We are not about to provide foreign language translators for this conference.

Yes, sir, we’ll take care of that, no problem, replied Eileen Goldman, his faithful personal secretary.

Are the confirmations for the conference hall at the Waldorf Astoria and the various hotels suites back yet, Eileen?

Yes, sir, we have confirmation from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Everything is booked and under control. We’ll get these invitations out this afternoon, I expect.

Good, it will be interesting to see just who the computer selects and where they are from.

So that afternoon, twelve invitations were sent out all around the world to twelve doctors randomly selected by the computer at the AMA head office. It included an orthopedic surgeon specialist, dealing with knee replacements, from Melbourne, Australia. Then there was an English-speaking female psychiatrist from a small French island in the Indian Ocean called Reunion, a place that most people had never even heard of, plus ten other doctors.

    Chapter 2

    Odense, Denmark

Internationally, Denmark enjoys a reputation as a comfortable and contented welfare state, where people live long and happy lives. It has an egalitarian society, but retains the romantic trappings of a monarchy. It is a peace-loving country, yet it expects all men to serve a two-year national service to safeguard its populace.

The happy picture is reflected in a landscape of well-manicured farmland and woodlands, brick farmhouses with capacious barns, whitewashed churches, handsome manor houses, and magnificent castles. The town’s public gardens are overflowing with flowers. Red-and-white flags, (the national colours) flutter from the main buildings, and bright shop fronts convey an air of calm prosperity.

The town of Odense in the peaceful countryside of Denmark was the birthplace of the famous Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, the creator of The Little Mermaid and many other fairy tales. He was made famous by Danny Kaye, in his popular movie about Andersen.

It was in this same small town that a little blonde angel was born to the local bakery family. The family was thrilled with their little blonde angel’s arrival. Her mother’s two sisters, who also had young children, provided the blonde little angel with many friends to visit once she become a toddler.

Chynara was a beautiful child, a joy to the family. No trouble at all. She had a relatively happy childhood, without any major complications, and typical of the European culture. Before she knew it, she also had two younger sisters, both little blonde angels as well. As all her relatives lived in Denmark, she always had some activity or party to attend to and to have fun at. Life was quiet and peaceful.

Amazingly, besides her natural beauty, she had a special gift and thrived on learning other languages, which really thrilled her parents.

    Chapter 3

    The Teenage Years

Like every young lady, Chynara had her share of boyfriends and girlfriends as she grew from kindergarten into her teens. She enjoyed all the teenage parties and outings, going to the movies and all the other various activities.

And like all teenagers, as she grew, she too indulged in some typical sexual activities, exploring her sexuality and boundaries, initially by herself, then with girlfriends, and then through innocent petting with her boyfriends, but she hadn’t found anyone special who she was prepared to go steady with, so her relationships didn’t go any further. Yes, they were all only fleeting romances, puppy love at best.

But that was perfectly all right, as far as she was concerned.

As she grew older, she developed into a beautiful blonde young lady, and consequently she had a trail of suitors after her constantly, all wanting to taste her amazing delights. She, however, was well educated and played the game and never really let anyone get too close to her.

As she developed into a desirable young lady, her parents, realizing her beauty would invariably attract many undesirables, enrolled her in some martial arts classes and always made sure she had some Mace in her purse when she went out on dates. Yes, they educated her well in the mating game. Consequently, she was very savvy and only selected special young men to go out with and always to safe locations. She stayed out of trouble. If she had any doubts or sensed that there could be problems, the dates or events just didn’t happen.

She was 5’9, her 38 full-bodied bust stood firm from her chest and certainly drew attention! Her long slender legs were that of a fashion model, just perfect. All her other physical attributes were all well proportioned. She had a beautiful sexy face and a cute inviting smile, her long hair reminiscent of a young Brigitte Bardot. She was the dream girl that all her male acquaintances dreamt of spending a night with.

She, however, was all clued in and knew exactly what most males were after, but regretfully she had not found any male that she felt she could trust. They all seemed to have only one thing on their minds, and that wasn’t on her mind! Period.

She now realized that having a body to die for certainly helped in attracting the male population, but it also had its disadvantages. This thing called love was not on their minds, only passionate sex, without any forms of commitment on their parts.

By the time, she was ready to go to the university to study to become a doctor, she had already virtually mastered five languages: Danish, German, French, Italian, and English, which immediately gave her many advantages, and employment opportunities all over Europe and many other parts of the world as well. She was confident that with her five languages and her medical degree in psychiatry, with honours, from well-recognized Copenhagen University, she would be able to get a decent job anywhere in Europe, or the world, for that matter.

    Chapter 4

    University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Once Chynara finished high school, she immediately enrolled in the University of Copenhagen, to study medicine. She was dedicated to her studies and didn’t allow any social activities to distract her from her goals. She didn’t join any sororities and consequently was able to avoid the fraternity parties. She was definitely not a party person! College parties just bored her, and she basically ended up fending off all the various propositions all night long. She usually left early and alone.

Perhaps she missed out on some social activities during her years at university, but that didn’t bother her at all. Also, fortunately, she had relatives living close to the university with whom she was able to stay, so she never got involved in the collegiate shenanigans. She was more interested in getting her degree. Her social life could wait. She had plenty of time for that.

So she passed all her exams with honours and consequently become a doctor in psychiatry, specializing in dealing with and the caring
