Marcus Moore

Marcus Moore is a former middle school English/Language Arts teacher and has served in various leadership roles in the charter and public- school sector, including assistant principal and Head of School.Marcus graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. Marcus then spent 3 years in seminary at Howard University School of Divinity before obtaining a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration and Policy from Howard University. In 2019, Marcus completed the Leadership and Innovation Program at Georgetown University School of Business.Marcus is currently enrolled in the Clinical Pastoral Care program at Eden Theological Seminary and a member of the Prophetic Mentoring group under Dr. Mark Chironna’s leadership. It was a time of miracles. The otherworldly and the supernatural once considered shocking and unbelievable had become commonplace. Everyone saw it, and even those who remained steadfastly in their religious traditions marveled. There could be no denying that the Promise of the Father Jesus had prophesied, and Heaven had come to dwell among men. It was evident the Kingdom had come.

Blinded eyes were opened. The lame walked. Devils were cast out and the diseased were made whole again as the Gospel was preached. Such apparent power existed upon the apostles that even the shadow of Peter walking by healed the sick. Just as He had promised them before, they were not left comfortless, as the Lod worked with them, confirming His Word with signs following. The miracles, though, had become common place. They were not new miracles or rare, extraordinary feats of power; merely the extension of what they had witnessed with him only weeks before.

I so often find myself remarking what must have entered into the minds of those early believers in Jerusalem that day as the dorea – the gift – was so freely given to them. How astonishing it must have seemed. As he had prophesied to them before, they were to be witnesses unto His name. It truly was a gift so precious that those followers would lay down their lives for the sake of that precious endowment. And with the gift, there would be other gifts as well – the charismata. As the Mighty God is Christ became the Christ within them, ushering in an Apostolic Age, an age of prophecy was also evident.

And yet, here we are. Here so fondly remembering the glory of days gone by and of miracles long-since ended – still without truly experiencing the fullness within this more modern age of ours. I share this with you not to promote some sense of fondness or nostalgia at the things that were or even to inspire you with talk of what things could be but, rather, to pose a simple question to all who would still have the courage to believe: Why do we remain so content to settle for far less?

Even now as you read these words a powerful, clarion call is going forth throughout the nations of the world and there are some among us with sensitivity enough to hear it. It is a call to return to the greatness of the things that once were – to lay hold again to the treasure with which we have been entrusted and to sling to her with all our might. This treatise, to you, my brother and sister in the faith and to any and all who would read these words is the product of a prophetic unction that has consumed me and burned me from within. I feel the power of it even now as I write these words to you.

This prophetic word, though, unlike many others that have come before, will not be delivered through the means and the methods that so many have grown accustomed to. It will not be delivered clever mantras, cheapened cliches and religious slogans. Chances are, in truth, this prophetic word for this time and season may not even strike a chord of excitement at first. Especially in an age in which Pentecost has been relegated to little more than men in expensive suits, throwing out cheapened cliches for the purposes of commercialism and product placement. Where did it all go so tragically wrong? When exactly did we begin to grow so content with such things?

In a climate and culture so steeped in the promotion of words like revival, outpouring and renewal, another, even more relatable word is beginning to echo within the hearts of the prophets. Upgrade. Upgrade is, in many regards, not only a term that has seemed to consume my own life, as you will soon see but also a term which I believe is relevant to any and all who, like me, hunger, crave, and long for a return to the faith once delivered to the saints.

Is it truly any wonder why the scriptures admonished that they contend and wrestle for such a faith? Somewhere along the way, though we seem to have lost our unction. We seem to have lost our drive to experience the truly supernatural and the real – settling instead for a cheapened, politicized, form of manipulation that now masquerades itself under the guise of the prophetic. Somewhere along the way, we began to take to heart every Thus saith the Lord, without ever really having ears to hear or hearts and spirits to correctly discern. Somewhere along the way we stopped rightly dividing, choosing to embrace the hype of emotion and the thrill of impartation rather than the grounded, matured knowledge of a sound doctrine that must be learned.

What if I were to tell you even here at the very outset of our journey that contrary to popular belief it really isn’t every man for himself, as we’ve been led to believe for so long? What if I told you that despite public opinion there aren’t many diverse ways and many diverse voices sharing truth? That the road which leads to life truly is narrow and few there be that find it? Such a truth would seem uncomfortable, at best. It would be unwelcomed. Particularly in this more modern age in which our prophetic words bear striking resemblance to little more than our own ideas, our own political persuasions, our own wants and needs, and our own sense of identity.

The time has come for a prophetic upgrade – for a return to a treasure that we took for granted so long ago. The time has come to grow up, once and for all, into the things of God, growing into a more mature faith. The time has come to finally begin to experience for ourselves, in this generation, the things we have so often spoken of in past tense. Rather than looking back to the glories of the past from ages long-since gone, what if you could see that the prophetic voice is speaking even now? Calling even this generation to move beyond the cheapened counterfeits it has so easily chosen over the truth of the Gospel?

A great and violent shaking is taking place within the earth even as you now read these words. If you would but listen with spiritual ears, you will hear the rumblings and sense the tremors ever increasing. Old religious systems

I love how this book articulates what this current season in the earth is from a prophetic perspective and what it's all about and how to steward ourselves and navigate through it. Brilliant articulation!
