    Home Alone - Daphne Yaman

    Pathetic

    I'm fucking pathetic.

    disgustingly

    unequivocally

    abhorrently

    Pathetic.

    While you're likely

having the time of your sorry life

with whatever poor girl you've trapped,

    I'm writing poetry.

    While you've likely

    already forgiven yourself

for the HELL you created for me

    I'm thinking about you.

    While you're likely

    thinking to yourself

    that you're the shit

I'm hating myself for giving you

    the time of day.

    While you're likely

    being the true you-

    egotistical

    maniacal

    unempathetic

    I'm being

    abhorrently

    unequivocally

    disgustingly

    Pathetic.

    convincing

    why don't you love me

the way I had convinced myself you did

and why do I hate myself

    to make up for it

    it's been four months

    since you disappeared

    and yet

    I still expect you

to come knocking on my door

and my heart breaks a little

    every night it realizes

    there's no point

    in waiting longer

    because in my mind

if you had loved me once

like I had convinced myself you did

    you would love me still

four months could never be enough

    but every night

    I'm still alone

    Maybe,

    I think

the roads aren't safe enough tonight

    he's out of town tonight

    he's working
