    Introduction: On Writing in General

    In some circles of existence even speech is considered a vulgar act. It is a sign of degradation in the senses and understanding. Song is one thing; thus was the sacred organ—the larynx—created, that we might rejoice in our auditory creation (expression) as a tribute to the vibrational word (song) of God which we call life. But speech and language are used more often today to explain, than express. And they are needed only in a lapse of intuitive awareness of our inherent connection and more subtle forms of communication. It is this uncertainty or timidity in ourselves that keeps us explaining our actions: believing actions need explanation, and acting in ways that seem to require explanation—the two are the same.

    Writing, then, is all the more grotesque. To write is to grasp at moments and hold them, though they burn, long enough to beat them onto the nearest sacred artifact. Thus, in all its forms, writing is graffiti. Graffiti as we know it, then, becomes art by its satirical nature, reminding writing of its origins, its
