      THERE WAS a fierce throbbing accompanying the acid burn trailing up the left side of her neck. She wanted to open her eyes but the lids were too heavy. It was almost as if they were glued shut. For that matter, her entire body might as well have been glued to the ground because she couldn't lift a limb, not an arm or a finger, even if her life depended on it.
