    The women spent two years developing a time machine in a lab in Cumbria. It was a hollow steel machine about the size of a hatbox, and it could propel a marble up to thirty seconds through time. On most attempts, the marble arrived intact. Today, Patrick, the rabbit, would be the first living human time traveller.

    The scientists were over the moon to have created a rabbit that could travel through time, and they decided to keep it alive. They needed to attract more funding to continue their work, and they thought the press would be interested in the first rabbit time traveller.

    The first test subject was a dog named Tim, who went through the wormhole and returned unharmed. The scientists were overjoyed, but Tim’s owners weren’t so happy about him disappearing for a week.

    The final piece of the time machine was completed by the first week of December. The five engineers agreed to stay in the lab, rather than travel, in order to complete their work. They were going to change the world.

    On Christmas morning, the pioneers donned their boiler suits and headed to the time machine.
