The Call for a Total Paradigm Shift For Sustainability and Reconstruction

PROLOGUE

H UMANS HAVE ENGINEERED the Planet Earth with their sophisticated technological finesse and radical breakthroughs. There has been exponential growth in all economic sectors and spheres of human activities. In the process, we have constructed a massive, powerful military/industrial complex for protecting humans from each other and so-called security issues. There are no trustworthy alliances between countries. Humans have improved their life cycle when compared with the rest of species. and are moving at hyper speed on the technological landscape towards total domination with waves of disruptive, invasive technologies.

These amazing, converging technologies, woven with artificial intelligence (AI) integration, 3-D printing, self-driving machines, along with augmented and virtual reality embedded with beautiful touch-based interfaces are awesome (49). This is a vast manufactured Humancentric world.

Humans have constructed weaponry to annihilate each other several times. Do we need newer and ultrafast missile systems for greater destructive force? We are building the most complex nuclear weaponry when we are facing the unsustainability of the planet along with poverty, starvation, and climate change consequences. This weaponry is not for an alien attack- Unfortunately, humans kill humans! This weaponry exists because humans are cursed with distrust, duplicity, ethnic & religious multiplicity, and the struggle for domination over large swathes of land.

We, the citizens of Planet Earth, have a colossal climate crisis unfolding in front of us. The red warning signs have been issued. The rising global temperatures, climatic catastrophes, floods, massive wildfires, hurricanes with increasing carbon footprint, and carbonification of the oceans can only be a path to an extinction phase. What do you do for a crisis of this colossal proportion? Apply band-aids, go into denial, or intervene now? The problem is not humongous- It is of colossal proportions. This is a clarion call for every citizen of the planet to acknowledge,

To understand,

To act,

To participate,

To sustain mother Earth,

For it sustains your heartbeat and your breath.

Mother Earth is indeed your ecosystem, your environment, your existence, and totality of life! Not an iota less! Can you please think, breathe and feel your heartbeat and acknowledge that to yourself? Please do not be a naysayer and a prophet of doubt! Are we nonbelievers that climate change is from the 200 years of unchecked human activities on the planet?

The 200 years of unchecked over-exploitative commercialism and deflowering of the matriarch Mother Earth has led to a consequential crisis in full view. There is no scriptural antidote for the coming apocalyptic Ecocide! All of us, seven billion+ can cooperate, collaborate, and make the planet whole. This is an emergency, and it needs a rapid response, not 30 years, or ten years, or even one year. We are no longer at the crossroads. We are at the threshold, the threshold of the Rubicon. However, we are not at the point of no return. By the way, Rubicon is the name of the red river in northern Italy. "Julius Caesar in 49BC, January 10th, crossed the river and broke the law, making armed conflict inevitable. Julius Caesar attributed the crossing to a supernatural apparition.

Caesar then uttered the phrase, Alea iacta est meaning the die is cast upon crossing the Rubicon, implying that his action was irreversible (71). Caesar’s victory in Caesar’s civil war forced the opposition of Pompeo to flee to Rome. Crossing the Rubicon(67) will mean, Et tu, Brute, when Caesar was assassinated by his friend Marcus Brutus. It should be noted that in the play by William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar was warned during the victory parade, by a soothsayer saying, Beware, the Ides of March, which Caesar ignored. The Ides of March is March 15, which was a Roman deadline for settling debt, and the assassination of Julius Caesar (71).
