Chapter One
What would you like under the tree for Christmas?
Jagger Hill had been thinking about that question all day. What did he want? A man. A hot, sexy, willing male ready to warm his bed for more than one night. Was that too much to ask for? Probably.
He moved forward in line, queuing up behind a handful of little kids. He wasn’t the oldest person in line, but he was more than likely the oldest one to sit on Santa’s lap. Something had to work. His chances on the dating site hadn’t worked. Five dates and all with guys who just wanted a hook-up. He’d done those and wanted more. Then there was the date set up by Kelly. Her heart had been in the right place, but the guy wasn’t gay.
He thought about his last long-term boyfriend, Kyler. He’d thought Kyler was the one...until he found Ky in their bed with another man. Instead of admitting guilt and begging for forgiveness, Ky informed Jagger he wanted someone else for the holidays. He wasn’t in love with Jagger any longer and wanted out.
Two years later and December still sucked assholes. He sighed and folded his arms. The line was moving at a decent clip. A handful of the children cried, mostly when they had to have the obligatory picture taken. He didn’t want a photo. Nope, he simply wanted to get his Christmas wish in to the old man before the deadline. Asking on Christmas Eve was definitely right at the edge of the deadline. He doubted the holiday could get better, but he damn sure knew it wasn’t going to get worse.
He snorted when he read the glitter encrusted sign. Welcome to Santa’s Cottage. For a moment, he’d misread the sign. Welcome to Satan’s Cottage. That pretty much summed up his holiday season. Plus, he could’ve sworn the sign said Satan. Oh well.
Thick ropes of tree garland drooped from the ceiling and sprays of lights in the shape of snowflakes illuminated the corridors. Enormous single-color ornaments dangled from the ends of the signs on each of the stores. Yes, the mall looked a lot like Christmas. He sighed and turned his attention back to Santa.
The three kids in front of Jagger each took turns on the jolly old elf’s lap. One wanted a gigantic remote-control truck. The girl wanted a slew of dolls and the little boy wanted a puppy.
Jagger snorted and adjusted his leather coat. He’d even take a puppy at this rate. He needed
