This series of books entitled "Nostradamus" is a publication of William Dudley Pelley’s original "Soulcraft Fellowship, Letters from Home, The Nine O’clock Sessions, Survey of Probabilities, Purposes of the Infinite, Letters from the Heavenly Home and Halls of Light Illumination" representing over 1500 legal-sized, single-spaced typewritten pages originally written in 1955 but never published in its entirety before now.

This material, thought to be unique in Pelley’s writings, was channelled by him and mailed weekly to his subscribers in five-page sets. One unknown individual in Washington State assembled these sets (minus issue #1) and bound them into the manuscripts. We at TNT Publishing obtained the manuscripts, digitized them and are publishing them herein, beginning with Letter Number 2.

While the majority of this material was received psychically from Nostradamus, other Steller historical personalities also "tuned in" to provide (absolutely awesome!) knowledge and valuable communication while Pelley was in contact with Nostradamus, Democritus, Henry Ford, Benjamin

Why We Fail to Remember Consciously Earlier Lives Which We Have Lived on Earth in Flesh

DEAR FELLOWSHIP STUDENT:

I DO not want this first year's lecture course to close without taking up and discussing the most puzzling problem of Memory, what it is and how it operates. When we come to give it the attention it deserves, Memory and Personality would seem to be practically synonymous. Certainly, Memory and Moral Responsibility are synonymous. Without Memory, the continuity of the Soul would be meaningless. An understanding of Memory and its functions, at least, helps to clear up a thousand-and-one phenomena that are the very basis of orthodox theology. Naught but profit should accrue to us from looking into it.

I say Memory is the very basis of orthodox theology. Orthodox theology is built upon the thesis that the soul, after a sojourn in mortal flesh, ascends to a loftier sphere of being where it meets reward or penalty for deeds performed in the flesh. Unless Memory goes along with us to function in such Judgment, we have no knowledge or realization of what may be transpiring. We might experience compensations good or bad but where would be their significance? We wouldn't know what was happening, and much less why. In fact, without Memory there could be no recollection of our former selves as entities. We see this illustrated reversely as souls come into earth-life afresh without positive recollection of having lived any earlier lives. They think their earth-plights are most unfair and undeserved. What's the good of suffering penalty of a previous predicament unless we have before us at all times the positive knowledge of what has effected it? The moment that memory of preceding careers terminates, the personalities that lived those careers terminate. What we do in consequence is accept our plight as a plight, looking neither backward nor forward for reasons why we are in it.

Now we should admittedly be tackling a somewhat hopeless subject if it actually were a fact that we are being punished in suffering earth-plights with no recollection of what produced them, if that were definitely what is happening now in mortality. But this is where the Soulcraft Enlightenment goes a step beyond the seeming obvious and endeavors to show that quite different factors are operating when we declare we're unable to recall just what persons we've been in previous earth-experiences. It isn't that earlier memories have been destroyed; it's that we ourselves, due to peculiar nature of our several temperaments, purposely neglect to exercise them. Therefore the whole queer circumstance calls for a more lucid examination of Memory, to see it for what it is. All of which brings up the entire matter of what ought to be recognized as our Eternal Personalities. The whole problem has been called to my attention by the inquiry of a Georgia student this past week as to what happens to and in the physical vehicle when the etheric body vacates? Had the Life Cord severed between Christ's physical and etheric bodies while He hung on the Cross? If it hadn't, could it be truthfully said that He arose from the dead? Soulcraft unhesitatingly answers No! His Life Cord had not been severed. Thus He was able to return into His mutilated organic self. Had it been severed, there would have been no way for Him to resume control and supervision over His bodily functions. Only when the Etheric Body is no longer supplying vitality to the Physical, does it operate on its own so to speak. If this were not a stern fact of life, we should behold the somewhat terrifying phenomena of discarnate persons seizing possession of the cadavers of the recently dead and presuming to reanimate them, keeping them alive to incredible ages. Memories in the etheric body and memories in the physical body have got to match or align. And that means as well that electrical velocities of both have got to be exact. Acknowledging that, we can view for all practical working purposes that the Life Cord is more or less of an electrical conduit. (I'll take up with you separately what happens when seemingly discarnate soul-spirits succeed in possessing physical vehicles during trance) . .

Now what IS a Memory?

A Memory seems to be an alignment of atoms within a cell of such pattern or formation that they create and project a very specialized effect on the awareness of Thinking Spirit. The so-called Brain Cell, whether physical or etheric, is merely the unit of those atoms so aligned. On this plane at least, every physical cell produces its etheric counterpart or twin, the etheric being atoms performing at an increased speed inside the interstices of the physical but capable of retaining their unique design if temporarily withdrawn from them. Considered in sum-total, this is tantermount to saying that each and every soul-spirit alive organically on this plane possesses and resides in two bodies at once, his etheric and his physical. Actually his consciousness, or awareness of self, resides in his etheric. This in turn occupies the interstices of his physical atoms. Some systems of esoteric study contend there are two or more still finer organisms dwelling within the etheric, but we don't need to take these into consideration for merely resolving Memory or memories into what they are in operatings. Our real sense of Self resides in our Etheric ensembles, which can and do upon occasion penetrate onto higher planes than the strictly mortal. The fact of this withdrawable etheric body with its duplicate load of brain-cells, being able to act upon occasion independently, actually furnishes us with most of the phenomena of dreams, mental projections to a distance on this plane, amnesia, senility, and even the vagaries of those states induced by hypnotism ala the Bridey Murphy experiments. Soulcrafters are familiar enough with the fact that so long as the Silver Cord or life-conduit connects the two bodies, the Etheric can always reenter the physically organic and resume supervision over its performings. Indeed, some of the Higher teachers declare to us that nothing more uncommon than Sleep itself is merely the Etheric Self lifting out and over the slumbering physical form, enabling the latter to recuperate from the nerve-strength expenditures of the two operating in conjunction. But this business of Memories being impressed upon the Etheric-brain cells as well as the Physical, makes rational at once the claims of theology that the Soul-Self survives the body and continues in individuality in higher and finer integrations of Matter no subsequent decomposition of the organic vehicle affecting it. Thus people who express a virulent skepticism as to the continuity of the Soul in the sense of the survival of conscious personality, should be regarded tolerantly as merely ignorant of the true life-processes and compositions. Here, however, is the importantly big thing we all should recognize: The creation of the etheric brain-cell-design being the direct product of physical occupancy, the filling-up of etheric brain-cells is largely a one-way traffic. This should explain in one simple sentence why we don't naturally remember events of earlier lives. Physical stimuli can galvanize and load up etheric brain-cells by first loading up the mortally organic cells, but etheric brain-cells cannot galvanize the mortally organic, so that our memories of earlier lives and experiences are consciously obtained. Etheric brain-cells can operate and cause rememberings when the physical are set aside -- as by hypnotic trance -- but etheric memories received or caused by a former life or lives in earlier bodies have no counterparts in the physical brain of the present which only contains recollectings of what has been received by sense-stimuli since the date of the present body's birth. Find a way to let the etheric brain's content perform without the handicap of this current life's memories and earlier-life recollections come to the fore quite as readily as anything the soul-spirit has experienced since the present body's birth. There is, in other words, cellular arrangement of memory-atoms in the Eternal Mind of every experience one has ever undergone, but none of it can get up into the physically conscious mind of the moment because the current physical brain-mind isn't conditioned for receiving and identifying it. So the memory of the Eternal Self, and all the persons one has ever been, has to await physical demise -- the state popularly called Death -- for the simple reason that the breaking of the Silver Cord forever dispenses with current-life obstructions to Eternal Memory's exercise. It seems to require no very extensive effort, after the Silver Cord has been severed binding one to the organic body, to begin recalling whom one has been in earlier dispensations. Dead people, in fact, are frequently no little appalled to discover their Eternal Minds exercising and recollection of earlier roles they have played coming back to them -- all but those who have put themselves through a rigid self-hypnosis while in mortality that any reincarnational possibilities are anathema and there is no such thing. These can continue in such higher trance for untold numbers of years, simply refusing to accredit the obvious. Thus do the willfully ignorant handicap themselves on the loftier octaves, a childish perversity that injures no one but themselves. Nostradamus chanced to remark to me the other evening, Of course nobody of any brains on this side denies or fights the process of reincarnation . . and with that derogation he went on talking about higher matters. However, to get back to this quandary of Memory . .

It seems to be Soul-Mind in the abstract -- the sum-total of all the life-experiences one has ever lived -- that reincarnates for some special increment on the earth-plane time after time. This is Eternal Personality with a vengeance, around which grows additions of each new etheric mind that prototypes the physical. And peculiar to relate -- although I don't recall that I've ever touched upon it before -- this Eternal Personality, as one climbs higher and higher in Cosmic Society, seems to have a name and prestige all its own, demarked from any earthly identity in any particular period. And this seems to be particularly true of any Great Soul that comes down upon the earth-plane at any special time to execute some outstanding mission. You may be some particularly Great Soul, Upstairs, in the eternal sense, right at this moment, if there were any way while in flesh for you to be made aware of it! People who fight Reincarnation the stoutest, may be doing themselves the worst disservice possible, skulking or fleeing from their own celebrated identifications because of some small memory over which they've grown a complex. What are some of these souls going to say, upon graduating from their bodies, to find themselves acclaimed by millions for what they have been in past ages, although for particular reasons of their own or for effectivity of their earth missions, having played their latest roles in the under-stratum of society as quite ordinary peoples?

You don't remember your earlier incarnations because your present mortal mind is blocking recollections of them coming back to you consciously! You have no conditioned brain-cells in your physical ensemble corresponding to the brain-cells that operate in your eternal etheric mind. The thing is not at all complex. But actually you don't require to know all details of who or what you have been in the past. The fact that you find yourself in life at the current moment, attests to the correctness of your role for some especial purpose! You are not exactly going it blindly, you are going upon concretions of sterling character that produced you in earth-life at this period and devoted to the cosmic principles that you espouse. The truly big thing that wearies me, I don't mind telling you, is eternally striving to convince purblinded people that actually they are Great Souls, else they would not be in earth-life at this time and especially attracted to these Soulcraft illuminations. Prove that I'm a Great Soul! they taunt me. As if it were especial skin off my nose whether they're great or whether they're little. They want to remember something in the vast roster of their cosmic affairs that convinces them they're great. I try to tell them they can't remember their own cosmic histories so long as they're becalmed in cloying flesh with all the sense-stimuli of the current incarnation obstructing the workings of their memories. Their eternal memories. Can't they see it's their everlasting zeal to plow ahead and go onward, that identifies them for what and whom they are? What do they want for proof . . a ticker-tape procession up Lower Broadway, with millions of celestial entities huzzahhing at skyscraper windows? Alas, they'll have to wait for physical demise to accord them that.

At any rate, you go onward from day to day adding everything that happens to you in the way of sense-stimuli into your etheric mind and into your character. All of it's going in and little is coming out. You're perfecting a well-rounded temperament, made more and more sizable by every experience -- and the tougher the experiences, the more you profit. It's all being accumulated up, in that Eternal Mind and Personality of yours, making you eligible to come back into earth-life again and again as a personage of greater and wider importance. Then presently comes the time when you truly comprehend that you've been through all that life on the mortal earth-plane has to bestow on you. You don't have to go back. You can thereafter go no place but FORWARD and UPWARD! . . What a truly stupendous discovery this last may be. You'll be saying to all and sundry, Where's that man Pelley who tried to tell me how probable all this was? . . I want to find him and pound his back for the service he did me when I didn't have the intelligence to get what he was driving at! . . alas, I'll be up at the front of the whole procession, doing things I'm supposed to do because they're HARD. Weaklings don't lead processions, remember that!

We get a full load of fresh sense-perceptions from every incarnation we venture. All of them we store away in our Eternal Minds. There we mulligrub over them, using such as we can absorb under the exigencies of the moment. But when we get clear of all these cloying limitations and handicaps of flesh, we have them as imperial treasures to brighten our garments for eternity's higher concourse. You have in your etheric or Eternal Mind at this instant, every experience of every fateful event in which you ever participated, and right at this moment it's one of the facets of your character. And yet you'll go on acquiring more until the end of worldly time. You're evolving up the same Golgotha that Christ Himself went on an earlier planetary system millions of years ahead of you. He says so Himself and bids you take heart. You'll make the grade eventually as He made the grade in result of the sum-total of it! What are you griping about? . . a nasty remark a neighbor made about you this morning as you were backing your car from your garage? . . a bill for groceries you can't ever see your way clear to pay? . . the things a passing political administration is doing that can only tilt taxes higher? . . how childish and inconsequential all these passing headaches will appear when you really begin to hit your real stride cosmically!

Or is your lament going to boil down into an atrocious They didn't tell me, in my last life on earth, that I'd really been a Big Shot in the lives I'd lived in Europe in the 14th to the 16th centuries? What good, pray, would have been accomplished by your knowing it? Would you have gotten out on the second balcony and drubbed a drum calling attention to yourself? Go you now and prove your greatness by the way you're meeting the problems or the moment! That's the demand now being made upon you. This whole present scene is equally as ephemeral as any sequence our forebears lived back over the past one to two thousand years. Remember, we are posterity to those who shall be living a couple of thousand years from today! What sort of record are we running up NOW? It's all going down in the annals of posterity!

I've chosen to think that all these reminders have a definite place in this lecture-series. It's all right to learn about the classifications of Heaven and what each one of us shall be when he gets there. But we shouldn't overlook the fact that we're qualifying ourselves for whatever our future positions are, by what we're doing right here on this earth-plane, this morning or this afternoon, or this evening. It's a stupendous responsibility . . when we truly pause to give it serious thought. Actually we're engaged in a study course to make us BIGGER people, people on whom greater and graver responsibilities can be placed. Nobody in his senses is going to bestow greater and graver responsibilities upon weaklings -- only as we PROVE ourselves as capable of handling the responsibilities of the moment are we due to be recognized in future.

How Memory forms and why it functions, is part and parcel of this very moment in which we're living. God has given us the boon of re-living in our minds every specific experience we've gone through. Very good, are we reviewing those experiences in terms of wringing them dry of whatever lessons they've held for us, or are we griping like small peevish children that what we've really wanted all along was a particularly flavorable lollypop? What the Soulcrafter should know about Memory and its phenomena in Performance? . . It's a divine boon by which the Almighty holds up in front of us the glories of our self-improvement for each new day. At any rate, it should be clear to us from all the foregoing why we don't recall our past-lives' experiences out of hand. We'll recall them soon enough when mortal mind collapses and is interred in a $3-cemetery lot. Then what discoveries some of us are due to make! . . Information and more of it!

Why Wars and Global Catastrophes are Permitted by Higher Divinities
