The mouth-watering sweet scent of baked cinnamon wafted to Annabelle Darlin’s nose as she finished adding sprinkles to a dozen donuts at the Darlin Donuts Café in Apple Cove, Ontario. The batch she was working on was scheduled be to be delivered to Mrs. Debs Palmer-Wealth wife of Eeon Wealth, one of the richest men in Apple Cove, in an hour. Mrs. Palmer-Wealth was one of her busiest customers for her catering business.

Annabelle had been catering for the Wealth family for a while now. And Mrs. Wealth always had the most extravagant parties and events at the mansion over on the east side of town.

Annabelle loved pleasing her customers and they came from all walks of life. Rich, poor, working, in between jobs. Everyone came to the Darlin Donuts Café to hang out and mingle and enjoy savoring treats from the menu.

It wasn’t too long ago that Annabelle was in between jobs wondering how on earth she would make ends meet.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise when Annabelle was suddenly laid off from her job and moved back to the small town of Apple Cove, a town of rolling green hills, apple orchards and the freshest country air you’d ever breathe in, just outside the city of Toronto. Not only did her now ex-boyfriend leave her for their boss—talk about tension mixed with heartbreak, but she escaped the hamster-wheel rat race and used some of the severance pay to open up her own small business, Darlin Donuts café. She had the pleasure of serving the finest customers and being a part of the lives of many wonderful people. Sadly, it wasn’t all fun and food when bad things happened—like murder.
