Yes, I Want. Yes, I Can. Essential Tips to Prosper Economically in Your Life. - Joan Pont
1- WHY AM I NOT POOR?
First I would like you to go back to the question above and reflect on it.
"It should be the other way around. It should say: why am I not rich," you will think, surely.
That's right, it's upside down. For a very simple reason: as long as you have a chance to prosper you will never be poor.
To prosper, to advance in your income and to improve your financial situation, will always be within your reach, because human beings inevitably seek to satisfy these fundamental needs:
Livelihood.
Protection.
Affection.
Understanding.
Participation.
Leisure.
Creation.
Identity.
In this book we will focus on the first two. Livelihood, understood as physical and mental health, food, housing, work; and protection, which encompasses autonomy, health system, and social environment.
It is very clear that for both needs you need money, and money is a scarce commodity coveted by all. We have to try to reach a point of equilibrium in which we can comfortably cover our basic needs so that these allow us to access the highest end of the pyramid.
At this point we will introduce two basic concepts:
TO REACH A SITUATION IN WHICH WE HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO LIVE FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE YEARS.
NOT TO THINK ABOUT MONEY MORE THAN NECESSARY.
Actually, you don't need to be rich or wealthy (although if you can do better, let's try), but to achieve a financial stability and peace of mind that will give you what everyone else craves: THE ABILITY TO DECIDE FOR YOURSELF, WITHOUT ANYONE TO ACCOUNT TO YOU.
To achieve this goal, you must be open-minded and never forget that financial stability, like life itself, is an obstacle course that lasts until the last minute or second of your existence.
To do this you have to prepare yourself from the beginning by building a solid foundation for your personal economy, on which other less robust foundations will be laid which, if they falter, could bring down the whole building.
So you are not poor, nor will you ever be.
The basic starting point is SAVINGS, and for that you need WORK or ENTREPRENEURMENT which, if you do things right, will earn you the possibility of INVESTMENT in real estate, or property, and financial assets.
We will analyze each section separately, although all are, of course, related.
2- SAVINGS.
When the subject of saving is discussed, the most frequent response is: I don't have the capacity to save
.
Well, if that happens it's because the starting point has been wrong and your expenses exhaust, or exceed, your income.
If you are among those who would give the above answer, try going back and thinking about when this anomaly began to occur. I'm using the word anomaly
so as not to qualify this situation with other less friendly terms, such as dramatic error
or fatal decision
.
The point is that, for the economy of a low or middle class person or family, lack of savings is the worst of all possible situations. It means being doomed for life to depend on a job that may not be stable enough, and many sleepless nights thinking about payments for the next few months.
The absence of savings capacity is the main problem to be combated.
YOU HAVE TO SAVE EVERY MONTH, WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTION.
To achieve this goal you will have to use all possible strategies.
If you are a young person who is starting his adult life here are the basic premises:
1- Avoid financial debt as much as possible.
2- Do not fall into the temptation of pretending
that you can own certain assets that are not necessary.
3- Ask yourself every now and then the big question: can I live for five years on my savings?
If you already own
a mortgage for many years, check your expenses from time to time and, if necessary, start a period of war economy. Do you need
