About this ebook
USA Today Bestselling Author S.L. Sterling heats up the pages with this second chance office romance guaranteed to leave you blushing.
I swear you could hear my cry from the top floor of my office building the day my boss announced he was leaving. He offered to take me with him, but I decided to stay and focus on my relationship. Shortly after, my boyfriend walked out on me.
In a short time my life had become unrecognizable, yet I forgot all about that one Saturday morning when I ran into Nate Templeton at a local coffee shop.
Fate never gave us a chance the first time around, but now the charming, sweet, drop-dead gorgeous man wakes up the heat and tension in my body all over again.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you ran into the one who got away?
For me, it was explosive in more ways than one.
Note: This book was previously published with the title Illegal Affairs. It has been edited and modified from its original version.

I glanced around the empty halls of the office. Frank, my boss, had left only a few short hours ago, but I stayed behind to finish up the paperwork for his last meeting tomorrow morning. Hitting enter on my keyboard, I turned around and looked out over the city while I waited for everything to print. There was something so peaceful about New York from sixty-five stories up. There was no noise, no business, just a perfect view of the city that I rarely ever tired of, and of course, my thoughts.
I pulled the documents from the printer, stapled them together, and shoved them into the file folder that sat on my desk. Grabbing my sweater off the back of my chair, I wrapped it around me and sat back down to send Frank an email. The second I pressed send, I realized that after six long years of working side-by-side with Frank, this was going to be one of the last emails I ever sent to him. A wave of sadness fell over me at the thought.
Frank had just accepted a job in Texas six weeks earlier, and they had given him one month to wrap things up here. The second he had told me, I felt the tears building behind my eyes. He had been good to me, looking out for me when I’d first moved to New York and started with the company. He had been a dream to work for, but I was happy for him and his career move, even if it left me feeling sad and lost. To my surprise, a few days later, he told me he was working to negotiate a deal for me to accompany him to Texas to be his assistant. I knew they probably had far better assistants there than me, but he was insistent that he needed me. Two weeks later, he presented me with an amazing offer. I wanted to jump at the chance but kept a level head and asked for a couple of weeks to decide.
I’d walked into the office this morning with a heavy feeling weighing over me, and after dropping my purse and coat at my desk, I knocked on his door.
Morning, Brooke. Come in,
Frank greeted from his desk. I grabbed you a tea on my way in.
He nodded to the cup that sat on the corner of his desk.
I smiled, realizing how much I was going to miss that. He brought me a tea every single morning, I doubted my new boss would be that way. Thank you. Do you have a minute?
Of course.
He shoved his paperwork to the side and nodded to the chair across from him. This all can wait. What’s going on?
I, uh, I’ve given your offer a lot of thought over the last couple of weeks.
And?
Well, as generous as it is, I am going to have to pass. Andrew and I are going to give our relationship another chance and honestly, my heart is here in New York.
Frank set his pen down and looked at me, nodding. Well, as sad as I will be to lose you, you need to do what is right for you. That much I understand,
he
