About this ebook

She’s a mean girl. He’s a bad boy. Every school has at least one. Even Silver Valley High, but what happens when the two collide? Almost legal age Echo embarks on her senior, but it turns out things aren’t going as planned. Her parents leave her home alone to fend for herself, but you can’t have house parties if your dad cuts you off, leaving you dead broke, and there’s nothing to be happy about. Artist is not your everyday bad boy cliché. He has a style all his own. Artist isn’t just the bad boy, he’s the new kid. He’s a bad boy with a heart and manners, whose major purpose is to teach the mean girl some of her own. Ever wonder why the mean girl is so mean and the bad boy so bad? Read on to find out.

I never understood why people say, ‘You are what you eat.’

I inhale who I want to be, letting the air fill my tummy.

    If I eat a pancake… am I a pancake? —No.

    Hold for three…

    We are what we think.

Exhale slowly who I am not as I count to four.

I flip open my sun visor mirror and take a quick look at myself as I repeat my mantra of affirmation. #BOSS, #BITCH, #BABE I do it because it works for me. No one knows me better than I know myself. Not even my therapist that my parents waste money on weekly. I won’t throw her completely under the bus because sometimes she has some cool things to put into perspective, but most of the time—not!

I have to do what’s best for me, and sometimes what’s best for me might be to ignore a situation or person altogether as if it never happened. In other words, fake it until you make it.

I flip my visor shut and stare out of my windshield, peering at Silver Valley High and all of its trained robots floating past and through its doors. I’m so glad this is my last year. I pop my meds for the day into my mouth and gulp it down with a sip of my Latte.

Closing my eyes, I repeat my mantra affirmation and my breathing technique one more time.

I swallow my nerves and exhale my anxiety.

Get them before they get you. I plaster on a fake smile that doesn’t even belong to me.

    I exit my vehicle.

Latte in one hand and one very expensive bag hanging from the crook of my arm. I slide my shades on to shield my eyes from the sun. My therapist, Keri Adams, would say it’s hiding the raw emotions I may have felt away from others. The truth that lies beneath the eyes. Little does she know; I have no emotions. Not the weak ones, anyway.

What’s up, bitches! I greet my two besties, Ashleigh and Nicole. They both sashay and do a few twists and turns for my approval on their outfits of the day. Not bad—not bad, I say. Not better than mine… but not bad. I do my
