INTRODUCTION
The 50th anniversary of the D.B. Cooper skyjacking took place earlier this year and when it came about, it inspired me to write my own story about the events of that night and what happened to man who went by the name Dan Cooper.
In writing this story, I have researched the case, using the known facts to weave the tale. I even made sure the various other events (namely football games) were accurate. If you don’t want to know who won the Kansas City-Detroit Thanksgiving Day game in 1971, you probably shouldn’t read this book. The geography is also reasonably accurate.
I should probably reiterate that this story is entirely fictional. I have purposely stayed away from using anyone’s real names. James Robert was a name I picked out of the aether. However, its usage is primarily because of how generic it is.
With those notes and disclaimers made, please enjoy this piece of historical fiction involving the only unsolved skyjacking that took place over American skies. This book serves as a bit of a prequel to the Bimbacic trilogy, although it may or may not be cannon. I haven’t decided yet. But that shouldn’t take away from the fun.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO D.B. COOPER
With the bag of money secured to my waist and both my main parachute and my reserve parachute securely strapped to me, I jumped out of the back of the plane. The wind was cold. I definitely wasn’t dressed for the weather, but I would survive. It was only 10,000 feet down. I just wished it wasn’t rainy too. And at this altitude, the rain drops felt more like ice hitting me.
Come on, James,
I shouted at myself as I fell, leaving the plane behind. My plan had worked perfectly so far. Hijack the plane, demanding a $200,000 ransom. It was all there, at least as far as I could tell. I used one of the extra parachutes to secure the bag of money to my waist. I was confident it wasn’t going anywhere I didn’t go.
I had jumped out of a plane before, but not since I washed out of training. And that had been a long time ago. The conditions had been better then too. The stiff wind and rain certainly
