Chapter One.
Katy, wake up!
my dad yells from the bottom of the stairs.
I yawn and stretch luxuriously. Then the realization of what day it is hits me, and I bounce out of bed.
Today is officially the last day of high school. Today the results from the previous semester’s exams get posted. My straight A aggregate assures me acceptance into the University’s science program, launching me into applying for the scholarship I need to get into medical school. Good morning.
Mum is pouring a cup of the delicious coffee into Dad’s cup as I burst into the kitchen.
Honestly, I am the luckiest girl alive. I always wanted brothers and sisters, but my parents dote on me, and they have done everything to get me to this point. Alice and Janet are like sisters to me anyway.
Hi Katy, love,
Dad says as he lowers his newspaper. Today’s the big day, right?
Mum pours the
