    Introduction

Although there are twenty-four hours in a day, it seems like that isn’t enough time to get everything done. Our home life demands a certain amount of attention, commuting to and from work takes a lot of time, and working eight hours or more per day limits the time that we spend with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Despite everything that’s going on around us, five minutes per day may be durable to work into our schedule, even if it’s at a sacrifice by getting up from bed a little earlier.

It doesn’t take the Lord a long time to communicate with His creation. He can speak a word into our hearts and mind that will carry us through the day. We can also meditate on what we hear. Five minutes isn’t a lot of time, but it can make positive changes that could last a lifetime and even into eternal life. The second half of this book is to encourage us to build our spiritual house not only with God’s Word but also through prayer.

Do you have five minutes to spend with Jesus today?

    Day One:

    My Metamorphosis

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.

    2 Corinthians 5:17

How many of you can use a change in at least one area of your life? When I was growing up, we used to play on merry-go-rounds in the park. Round and round we would go, until it slowed down or stopped, and we were able to get off. Sometimes if the device was going very fast, we would feel a little sick in the stomach. However, after the ride was over, we would go find something else to play on. Life can sometimes feel like a merry-go-round, except it is hard to tell when things will change. When will my life stop going in circles? When will something good happen for me? When will I come out of this storm? When will I be happy again? When will my biggest dreams come true? Psalm 30:5b states, Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. It may seem like a very long night, as though daybreak will never come, but if you don’t lean to your own understanding, God will get you off the merry-go-round of life, and you will see His goodness.

What are you trusting God to change in your life today?

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

    Romans 12:9

L—Love—Show someone some love today. Tell someone you love them, even if you haven’t known them very long.

U—Understanding—Ask God for an understanding of His word. You can’t live the word if you don’t understand it.

N—Never—Never stop praising God. No matter how bad things are or seem to appear, you still have something to praise God for.

C—Change—What change can you make in your life to please God? What change do you need God to make because you can’t do it on your own?

H—Honor—Honor God with your substance. Pay your tithes. When you go to the ATM to make a withdrawal, you must have money in the bank. If you don’t have money available, the machine will respond with insufficient funds. Is your heavenly bank account in the negative? There is a blessing in paying tithes. If you don’t believe it, try it and see for yourself what will happen.

    What Shall I Do?

Sometimes life can throw us a curveball at the most inconvenient time. There may be several episodes when you don’t know what to do. When this happens, consider doing the following:

Pray when you don’t know what to do.

Pray when you think you know what to do.

Don’t make a major decision when you are confused. God is not the author of confusion.

Talk less and listen more to God when you are in a storm.

If you need to talk to someone, find a person whom you believe will pray with you sincerely.

Don’t do something that will displease God in order to fix your problem. If you want God in your business, you must do things His way.

When in doubt, do without. It’s better to do without something than to regret it later.

How do you plan to deal with problems going forward?

    Day Two: Turn It Around

All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

    John 1:3

Turn It Around is a prayer asking God to change our circumstances. Prayer truly does

change things. Prayer can remind you to do something you forgot about. One day, during my

prayer time with Jesus, the Lord reminded me to pay my light bill and gas bill. I went and

looked at both bills, and God was right; they needed to be paid. My future with those bills was

either getting the electric and gas turned off or having to pay late fees for both. Instead,

because the Lord reminded me to pay the bills, He turned around the circumstances by

    preventing them from happening.

What do you need God to turn around in your life today?

    Hebrews 4:15

V—Very important—What’s important to you is very important to God.

E—Examine—Examine your faith. Make sure your faith and trust in God are on track.

G—Grace—Grace is something you didn’t earn. It’s the favor of God; His blessings to you.
