The Golden Rules of Getting Rich - KARLENE DOSTLER
A horrible example for my children. I heeded his advice and carried out his instructions. Behind a fifteen-cent cigar or a meerschaum, no young man in the world looked as lovely as he imagined he did!
These facts are double true when it comes to the consumption of intoxicating beverages. Making money necessitates a clean mind. A guy must understand that two plus two equals four; he must organize all of his actions with thinking and preparation, and thoroughly investigate all of the complexities and intricacies of business. As no man can succeed in business without a brain to enable him to set his plans and reason to lead him in their execution, no matter how intelligent a man is, if his brain is muddled and his judgment bent by intoxicating drinks, he will be unable to conduct business successfully. How many golden possibilities have passed a man by, never to be resurrected, while he was sipping a social glass
with a friend!
How many rash deals have been done while under the influence of the nervine,
which makes its victim believe he is wealthy for a short time? How many critical opportunities have been postponed until tomorrow, and then forever, since the wine cup has pushed the system into a state of lassitude, neutralizing the vital energies required for economic success? Wine is a mocker,
as they say. The usage of intoxicating substances as a beverage is as much of an obsession as the Chinese smoking of opium, and the former is just as damaging to a businessman's success as the latter.
It is an unmitigated evil that cannot be justified in terms of philosophy, religion, or common sense. It is the root of almost all other issues in our country.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME.

for example, is a common statement
