About this ebook

‘Is that You Papa? ‘ is a bite-sized debut book. A guide as to how God speaks to each of us from the time we are born, using real life experiences to demonstrate the many ways he communicates and how we can recognise his voice. In the telling, examples are captured in a collection of ‘memoir’ style writing. As explained in the forward by Fr John Rea, it is in a way a practical manual, but is also a testimony of the way he speaks through the example in the author’s own life.

    Foreword

    Is That You Papa?

St Teresa of Avila describes prayer as a loving conversation with one whom we know loves us. But a conversation takes place only if the parties to it are able to hear what each is saying. Only then can they respond to one another. Bronwyn Hallot’s book is a sound and practical contribution to hearing God speak to us personally. She writes from experience and tells us how God lets her know it is he, and not some other voice, that is addressing her. God has graced her by speaking to her in a great variety of ways and that, in turn, is a blessing for the reader. Some of us struggle to hear the Lord. Others among us aren’t sure whether we are listening to God or to ourselves or to someone else. Yet others pray but seem to hear nothing. There’s an I in their prayer but no Thou as far as they can tell. Because of the many ways God speaks to her, the author has something valuable to share with everyone who reads Is that you Papa? This book is more than a manual on prayer. It is a moving testimony to how God has been with Bronwyn throughout her life. Like all genuine testimonies hers builds the reader’s faith. Read this book. It is a gem.

    Foreword

Wow! Right from reading the content headings, Bronwyn had Barry and me. We were ready to turn the next page knowing this book of stories was a must read.

We found it relatable and believe it will be so, for all those who read these real, riveting and honest stories; and many will be sent a ‘lifeline’ through this testament of love.

Bronwyn has openly shared her, at times costly, journey of relational growth, both with those around her and with Trinity, it is riveting!

Her songs are beautiful and even more so in real life. The use of the scriptures around the stories gives the verses deeper and extended meaning.

We have shared Bronwyn’s life for many years, at times from a distance and then more lately with Paddy. Thus enabling us to verify the genuineness of these writings and the ‘up close and personal’ pain, joy and life changing results they have brought. We are so proud of them both and their passionate and loving lives towards all whom they meet.

This book is for everyone, whether a Christian or not, whether a Catholic or not, whether young or older, mature or just a beginner. The stories are reminders of the love Papa has personally for each one of us.

    Author’s Note

The scripture quotations throughout this book are generally from the New International Version of the Bible. However, there are some from the Passion Translation.

The stories shared are experiences called to mind and journal entries throughout the years.

Father God, I call Papa because I have very much very much enjoyed reading Francis McNutt’s books on healing. His wife Judith runs their ministry now and her way of teaching has a deep connect for me. She lived in Israel for many years when she was young and shared how the Lord showed her how he loved her as a daughter. She describes living in an apartment in the heart of the old city. In the late afternoon young children could be heard calling out to their Papa in delight as they saw him disembark from the bus at the end of the workday. Papa, Papa, Papa. There is such a closeness in the name. Since then, I have heard so many people calling him by the same name.
