Author’s notes: Vows is a fictional memoir of a woman who managed to overcome the unrest, limitations and was trying to make sure her life was worth being spoken about. She left men to be born again and refused to be married by some; in pursuit of God with the hope of being married someday, believing marriage define destiny. She was tremendously trained by the church and comes into a community that doesn’t understand her thinking. At times her overly righteousness blinded her, but she wanted to see what full obedience could yield and this was a test that almost broke her as the union of blended family are formed and because her life seem glamorous it stirs envy, competition which created blindness to what they were doing forgetting there were unbalance scales. That Life is governed by rules and they felt they were entitled to breaking them maybe mainly because they felt God owed them for making them poor. Their pursuit for a greater life might have resulted in murder which the main character is trying to solve. There were both Soldier and Spiritual techniques used against the family, but the main character’s adamant thinking was she saw too much to not think it’s not murder. She goes on a journey, visiting memory of what had happened to try to get to the truth. That every time she came close to victory there would be setbacks, at times to get to truth or victory she had to go against her Christian believes as people might have changed their initial assessment of the situation as she had something they wanted, they form collaboration in order to steal her work, which spill into her family possession. There were famous people involved making things complex; they were looking for a husband to save them.

"Not every piece of information is for everyone, in blended family proceed with caution. Leave something for tomorrow- Lacey thought to herself. The jealous might use it against one. Care needs to be taken when sharing a dream as vultures are waiting to steal it, but she was no Esau. Question was what was she willing to invest rather was it even worth it?"

Lacey was called into the bedroom, at times was present when the evidence was discovered. She choose to handle it. Where it was discovered by others in her absence at times she wondered whether it was fabricated. Could be blamed, truth was she could be in trouble, but she trusted their character. Were there trust issues between the Grekos and the Mansfield, why was their privacy invaded? Maybe the Grekos’s carelessness was their trap. The Mansfield were not looking for a reason to keep them on a leash, there was accidental discovery. It was a period of adjustment and the Grekos, were not showing support for the Mansfield, but pilling their home with strange people. At times Lacey felt like a stranger arriving home, find it full of strange. They used to exist the two of them, now she was greeted by unfamiliar faces.

She contacted the people with the know how, if wrongfully handled it carried prison sentence, but she wondered of the fairness of the situation, what about those that could be affected by their silence? Was time not given to process and handle? It was too early to have those kind of serious secrets. Advice was given, then she proceeded. Should she have paused and thought of consequences? She was trying to avert disaster from all sides, familyvs protection, fear of not knowing how it could be handled gripped her.

Many years have passed with limited drama, it seem like they were going to make it, boom they had regress and that was began of their end. Lucille could blame Lacey for refusing to accept change, but she had learnt how slimy she could be. With all the efforts still no change. There had been sporadic evidence of offense those who observed they would have have suggested it was for convenience, not for love. There were times it felt like she saw people vaninsh like magic, was it her hyper brain of something? It seemed like she had peed a scorpion, there was a dead bat, was she superstitious? Lacey was trained to observe and smell. Her training had brought a new dimension, she was not used to suspicion and their plot gave them away and she observed

So much had happened and she felt reduced to quotes to encourage herself. Lacey laughed when she thought about quotes, as she felt she created her own as they made her feel smarter. She was desperate for positive. She wondered whether they should have gone for counselling, the attempt was clouded with deception, some pretend to for it, only to leave evidence to suggest otherwise. Betrayal stared her in the face, but thought they would come around, she pushed it to the back of her mind, as protection took over.

Lacey’s problem was being accommodative and that disadvantage her at times. At times she was mersmerised by their thinking, that was meant to cost her to lose things she realise that. She hadn’t learnt to negotiate, she watched as systems change but they were late, she had learnt to manourve as she waken to the fact that she was getting buried under the avalanche of problems that was tumbling down on her almost covering and suffocating her. As she stood up to shake the ice off, she remembered that life is an onion; one has to peel the layers to get to the core. The more one gets to the core the more potent it is. She was going to go on a limp and suggest that layers represent age but was fascinated by the thin translucent layer. The translucent layer offer transition from one layer to another as if giving one a glimpse of the next layer(Chapter). For the next chapter to be succesfuls she needed one last puzzle piece that was missing, and she woke up her spirit disturbed cause she suddenly remembered it.

Chapters require reflection and correcting and that take age. Age has the notion of accumulation of many days, however in this case the lifespan is short. Short doesn’t mean no impact. Onions affect the flavour of a dish. Age brings maturity and clarity of perception. Though a lover of onion she never investigated its benefit, she discovered how overlooked it was upon little perusing. It made her think of things people placed value on. It is recognised by its smell and its ability to make one teary. Many avoid it but she had learnt to enjoy peeling it while others might accuse her of chopping it roughly. Two things she loved because she could hide under them was rain and onion, even when one is really crying they could cover up. The tears are not for everyone to see.

Smell represents scent, tears in this case are reflex tears, and the wise says they are to remove onion fumes. Sight and scent, they both affect the atmosphere and influence decisions. The hermit solitude she became. She retreated into her fort and protected it with everything she had. The woman they used to love and adore had become a stranger to them. Stranger cause she didn’t fit their mould. She sat to pen it down least they forget. There was a woman who made vows and her life was transformed for good, was she too ambitious? She was a dreamer and wondered whether God was unfair. Oppression had blinded her and with time and distance the veal was removed. There were times she could not articulate to people the mysteries, as they stood puzzled but they were too much of strangers to be let in.

She remembered how she never thought it could happen to her, some even looked at it as a joke. It was even once mention to her, she was too outspoken to be abused, but it did. The problem was power. The evidence displayed on her face, some hidden under the false pretext called beauty. Her had let her know and her (Lucille) goal was to make sure she was too destroyed to get married, turn her into a maniac, until self-destruction or suicide was the only option she had. She was going to use what he loved to destroy him. She caught it early and choose life. Could Mr. Mansfield let his thought slip that was used against him? Scent and tears at work. They tried through music to take her to younger her, though pleasant at times they were defeating the purpose. There was once her who wanted to be a nun then was ready to fight, did the thought trigger something? Did something happen? Her mind drew blank. She remembered playing wedding wearing real wedding gown-wondered who designed that, organising a failed pageant and going to a choral music show, life was bliss.

Oh yes, there was an episode of a river bursting it seams and people had to be rescued. The river was close to her school, which somehow it felt like it was a school, within a school. The flood had changed the landscape as people became creative of its aftermath. People turned the place into gardening where they grew fresh veggies which could be sold. One might take for grant this kind of things but she remember having a conversation with Raff about how technology had robbed the little one’s of fresh home grown stuff. Their communication on the internet was good, his children and her differed over the details. Her encounter with his children was a better experience that social media the daughter even taught her what was meant by free data.

Returning to her childhood, she remembers a big white house they called a ghost house mainly because it was abandon, did they once venture, her mind shudder, there was something haunted about it, but it seemed like in its days it was beautiful and huge with an Morula tree that stood outside, close by was a police station. There were the shopping centres and people whose children studied far who had their own business and other people used their craft, making furnitures. There was an industrial area where powdered milk, tiles and many other things were manufactured, thus her struggle with her brain, it seemed closed up, why? There were travels between places that gave different feels, from where she lived to where her aunt, then her mother’s uncle then the rural, with a shop that was close by and they would ask a visiting uncle for five scent to by chomp, at some places they were trying to make a lady and a business woman out of her, so she was given chicks, handbag and a mat made of plastics.

Loved by the elderly and the feeling was mutual. Some places were vast they grew(farmed) all kinds of things from Millie cobs to sugar cane. December was the time to indulge in mutton as their parents had interesting professions. It varied from policeman, one working for an airline, others teachers, priest. The Travelling between places made Lacey aware how creative people were where they used cow dung to make interesting shapes at the patio. Across her township home there were people who owned farms and Mr. Mansfield would tease her that she should curb her desire to ride a horse by getting a friend there. There were varieties of schools she past on her way to her normal school, from one for the delinquent to those who were deaf and dumb. Yes, at times they caught the same bus together. There was a lot of church activities and things that the supermarket have absorbed.

Growing up as relatives they came together exchange experience as they easied each other burden through jokes, in the form of story telling. Yes, they were influenced by the banker uncle, causing them to think wide and vast. There were different priorities which forced the children to bother the neighbours to watch TV and they were the rich in the area as they had carpet and at times they were not allowed as they had washed the carpet.

Mr mnasfield was strong in character, exposed her children to differe to stir their curiosity for life. Yes, though strict, he was liberal with them, at times when he needed to be the parent, he did. He made sesnse with the little it had and God multiplied it. Though according to Lacey she wouldn’t say he was born again, he was a better giver than her, he understood Christmas parcels for the poer. Yes, at times they were put on painting chores and Lacey being the baby of the hosue could get away with some stuff. What Lacey learnt when she was young were seeds that flourshed during her tested days.

OH yes they got hiding for painting their white clothes with mulberry juices, he could cause them to search for a rat on a year’s day til they located it and reward them by taking them to some parks with activities in a fancy area. He talked them a balance life, consequence and rewards. Lacey’s friend accused her of having the last born syndrome, wanting to proof oneself, good thing to have at times, at times a burden can one could resist help which might simplifiy things.

School was as artistic as they come they sew, knitted did gardening and music, but she hated the uniform, but later was changed and that she loved. Somehow there was exposure to different things, as middle school had a swimming pools and a tennis court, while high school was more althetics and musical. High school was interesting as they debated all kinds of topics and some of the teachers were intelligent who taught their two year old grade twelve maths. At times she notice a sad trend, lack of pushing when presented with an opportunity. There was career guidance and all kinds of expedition embarked on that brought greater exposure, the blessing of a different country, the bottom line was to make a living and not chase after fairy tales. The most honourable profession was being a teacher and that is what Lacey was called, mistress.

Lacey had her own thoughts, thus kissed that place goodbye for better horizon, only later by accident she had to revisit it. Disappointed was she as it was stripped of its beauty it was like being hit by a whirlwind that sent her spinning making her dizzy and she couldn’t understand why. Where good, corruption and creative could exist in one place, maybe the visit was exposing and a preparation for her. She went through variations of her, till death disturbed her causing her to focus. Life had a different taste and she welcomed the training though she didn’t request it,(Secret of systems exposed) she had allowed circumstance to shift her from the centre, it was time to return to how she thought. She had to search through her memories rubbles, seeking for her pricey possession, where did she loose it and how? The possession was her ability to dream. She remember being taken to a restaurant where the diploamts ate by a cousin, many years later as hse passed by she realise the place was not far from where Meredith went to school, thus her shock with her lack of motivation. Maybe even greater is the neironment she was causing a stir was to inspire, her peers were trying to make it, what made her enjoy leisure.

The people brought into their lives were trying to play psychological games on them, trying to question themselves, Lacey wondered if they were so brilliant whey were they manipulating? The reason she was hated was because she fought that. All they had to do was create doubt, doubt can be created by posture. Their entrance into their life had change the face of life and she didn’t like the taste they gave. There were lowring of standards and she refuse to accept. Evil winning made her turn into a different person. Fatigue had allowed the entrance of offense that was wearing her more; all these memories were brought back by restoration. Boldness and courage come through stages, people wanted to skip the process. At times she was not sure she wanted to live or die- she pondered.

She had a wry (rye) smile on as she sipped her coffee while peering through the window. She never thought she could make it that far, persistence was paying off, but she remembered her childhood days not like they wanted her to, but in a way of searching for answers. When there were unannounced visits and children tasks was to make tea for the visitors and hot beverage was poured on a saucer, blown at to cool it off, she thought those were the days when life was innocent and people could be themselves as her then working mother packed her lunch in a green tin container that they still used even today though she was long gone. The container was left with the granny who took care of her after school, who at an advance age entered a fun walk. The bar set high right. The children at times became sneaky as they saw visitors enter through the lounge aream, they would leave throughthe kitchen to avoid making tea. Making tea is an art where in the rural the townshipper were laughed at. The community was a kaleidoscope of professionals, from those who were in music, to craftsman and many other things. This community she calls beginnerville, where inspiration was stirred

At beginnerville their house which later became a surgery, had a patio that of a veranda and a flooring made up of red wax that most of the time was polished so one would see themselves, Lacey hated outside chores, but she remember the father of her uncle (Uncle author) who came to visit. He was a priest and God was first, at times Lacey might have seemed like the devil of the house cause they were late for study(afternoon classes) and he didn’t seem to understand that, late meant getting a hiding, Lacey’s class seemed to be the target as at times she felt they were punish because they had power and that created an irk in her, thus when she was prophesied upon he came to mind. Oh! He prayed for the her, see the old man prayed for the tea.

She seemed like a train wreck ready to destroy herself, but there was madness in her thinking only she understood. Different is what many would call it. Her life had changed drastically and she lost all sorts of cognizance and slipped into a trance thinking mode as her brain needed to conserve the energy, as it went in to shock. She remembered different views of the same things, brought by how much light hit them. At times she was trying to extract jewel out of rubbles. She thought to herself-you enjoyed, now you have to endure ‘til you can enjoy again. The more appropriate question was what are you waiting for? She thought how much she allowed life to dictate to her and for it to be a chore. She forgot to pause to enjoy it. It all boiled down to fear.there was unexplainable fear even towards things she knew she could do with her eyes closed. Fear was overcome by capability (being enabled). Something had happened to her making her loose her balance, Lacey was never one to shy away from a challenge even if it was going to embarrass her. Embarrassment brought inner strength and caused one to go higher.

She had regain who she was, but at times irritation of life irked her drawing her to places she longer wanted to be a resident of mentally, she had changed addresses, she thought she gave them too much power. The thinking drove her into bursts of laughter as she thought of facades, but that was not her battle to fight, but was thankful for the experience, cause it brought the question of alertness to light. She had been through the staircases of life and she didn’t need a gym, her cuff muscles were strong. She considered others more than herself, pausing she thought as she draws herself away from the window to settle on a chair where she could still see the outside. She was not looking for anything in particular just pondering upon stuff and remembering a battle well fought, doesn’t matter what others thought like Moses she had a visitation. Maybe not a burning bush, but a warning of stealing her valuables, not materially, but psychologically. She owed it to herself to reclaim the life that was almost stolen. Let them loose it, it’s their problem not hers.

Lucille tricked them and they dug her a hole, but she had power they were trying to take away from her. She was not going to fight people who knew truth but refuse to see, she was going to pray for their eyes of enlightenment. Transformation had arrived, what reminded her of death was now to remind her of life. Though short in stature something arose in her, the confidence to conquer. She had been under the power the of their oppression and it was wearing thin. Whatever access and stronghold they had on her they were loosing. Her mind had been racing and she missed valuable information, now she was awaken. It all made sense their beef. At the heart of their beef was it should have been them, why her.She was used to being over looked.

Oppresion had the notion of being controlled, like one being hypnotised. There was a spirit of making people sleep and so thechildren could do as they pleased. No they didn’t want boundaries, correcting meant abuse and times Agabeth would over right Lacey, how mature we have become. As she pondered she thought it no longer mattered. It was time for change. She had carefully put on her white pencil skirt, with a blue blouse and heels. Her hair wrapped in a headscarf, she pulled her hand bag and she was open for business. The business of healing those who were damage by their careless. Her heels were making a clanking sound as they hit the freshly tiled floor in a hurry cause of the intensity in her pursuit. She wasted time investing in what was not going to reward but might kill.

For too long she convinced herself she couldn’t but she had seen those with no training do it, actual she once sat at the foyer of the biggest office in the land seeking for help and she met a young man who had a different thinking and showed her how it could be done. How vastly is one thinking she thought to herself? He had come to get permission of what he was about to transform, her phone rang disturbing her with uselessness and she thought its often true with life, when one is trying to impact something trivial would disturb drawing one’s attention from what is important. She hadn’t caught the fish yet. Has the challenges of life forced one to cower in fear? Like a child burned afraid to try again? For her the risk of retrying was costly, not in terms of boldness but in terms of finance. Though left sufficient, legacy was more important. No she didn’t do reminiscing of the glory days, though she discovered people are stuck there because they were the happy days, days of their strength.

The torment of what could have been mainly because of one’s doing, at times its others, do not judge what you do not understand -she thought to herself. Every day was a glory day for her cause though there might be frustrations, God doesn’t make mistakes though to some it might seem so. Her greatest asset was being challenged. She struggled with vascillation and it seemed like she was possessed with gluttony. The problem was not the food, but how the brain was interpreting things, she was looking for better ways of doing life in light with her then situation. Extremely opportunistic she became, she made the present day count. She doesn’t take alcohol but understood one thing; people would pay good money for fine wine. Fine meant age, oh yes as a student she had visited the brewery, and gotten a lesson on beer making, the malt and the sugar balance got her too drunk to remember the recipe. After she had sobered up from the hangover of the fumes, because her body couldn’t handle it. She remembered that the future looked brighter. She put on her sunglasses and went seeking for the chemistry of life that for a while had been elusive, reducing her to phone calls and e-mails, with people full of self-importance. To them she was no human to be considered, but something to keep the clock ticking ‘til knock off time, but she learnt.

She drank black tea, she smile as she thought about that. Her life used to be full of hills and valleys, at times she had to operate blindly, but even in the dark if one steadies themselves after a while their eyes adjust and some kind of visibility is possible, she had to learn to aim her feeble punches that they make impact, lost evidence found. She paused as she thought of the other evidence that was found which Meredith (Stepsister) had turned into a crime scene which she had cleaned and she remembered how her brain turned into what she knew. She thought it was a squabble of stepsisters why has it turned into a crime scene. The police where used to being called, but this time it had become violent, it was something Lucille had done to her, did the police she called advise her? What did Meredith had on these people that had power and she seem like a lost cause that made them pay attention, was it Raff? She looked at the spatter from the hit and innocence departed, covered up, she was her mother’s daughter generational legacy in display, after all she stirred it up what was she expecting? Was there a collaboration to cripple her family’s legacy? Now one would understand the suspicion she has about her family’s death.

Order had departed, as at times people came to fetch what was not theirs; at tims the Mansfield felt Agabeth’s cousins could have been compromised and she uttered its their body, what child? at times Lacey was rendered powerless by the trickiness of circumstance, the danger of playing rich. The cement on Mr Mansfield tomb hadn’t dried, actual it was suggested the coffin has been stolen looking at Lola’s grave it seemed so. Mr Mansfield did excellence, his first wife buried like royalty with the MC a then radio personality. A man not known by many but could achieve great things in his quietness. They had already given themselves what used to be his with evidence of him wiped clean before his estate was settled. Covid was an excuse and they knew it, one rocked up at certain department and a different story was told to what they initially said. They erred, because they showed motive. Why was she surprised? She knew their tactics. She survived by grace, the secret was distancing herself. At times it’s in throwing one at it that goals are accomplished. The secret is in the eating enough. Hunger might cause one to sell their birth right. Normal was returning and she had bigger fish to fry, their problem was their assumption at times entitlement. They were stranger to her because she was alone they thought they could control her with acceptance, unfortunately for them she was used to rejection, betrayal by her own she had learnt not to be attached.

At times her breakthrough almost compromised, sadly they didn’t see the reaction they caused and were mindlessly floating in worry free land. They need battle scars so she was going to go ahead and enjoy the miracle. The weirdness of aloneness that used to hit her when she drove to the area where Lola lived had stopped. Some of the challenges were wearing thin as the peace that came with inaccessibility gave her little freedom she so desired. They laughed at her but then she was used to fremenies, now she was stronger. Many had plans with her work, she was grateful of the achievement afforded though the money was much needed, it was the effort acknowledged that mattered the most. Someone once said, people do not remember the hiccups encountered but the breakthrough achieved. She couldn’t handle the fact that Raff (The rich millionaire she believed by revelation was supposed to marry her, no he was unknown to her, often would deny he knew who he was though heaven suggested that her fear was being sued, he once checked whether she could distinguished, the designer brother who once stood over her as she struggled with putting her shoes on. At times Raff signed her into things without her permission) almost made her a slave, traces of him still lingered of him trying at times, but she took courage in the fact that heaven intervened.

Raff was handsome, truly tall dark and handsome, on his good days, he would throw a pair of spectacles to even enhance his looks even further. When occasion arose he could put on a good outfit. He was the man who knew where her money was, was supposed to help her obtain it, oh that was revelation by dreams by the way He was also supposed to provide her with a job. What Raff didn’t understand was what he did affected her future but didn’t matter anymore.

They were family, healed and forgot that he ever existed unless he threw one of his tantrums requiring attention. They once stood outside a hospital where Thomas was admitted on a Sunday afternoon, the aftermath of the war in display and Thomas had just stomach enough strength to accompany his visitors outside and Lacey realise the face of life had changed and she could have influence it. Even more she was determine to fight cause she did nothing wrong. Recovery was possible but they were going to deny her that as they were testing her God. Moving forward alone meant she might have offend some people, she needed figuring things out, there was warning for her to proceed with caution against her step as the possibility of tempering with her car could be looming. Did she suspect based on what could have been mentioned to her-that would be her cousin ? There were people who were supposed to be the most efficient but were taking forever to handle simple tasks, while they understood they were hers.

They had gather enough to micmic her.She was stolen that could have given them access. Lacey was aware that Meredith and Mike’s children (Lucille’s children, that their children) knew how to unlock the car doors without keys, (but children were not the same) or were copies made? It wouldn’t be the first time. Parking at the shopping mall at times gave her the same sensation that she once had when her first car was stolen. Lacey was awaken to the fact that Maggie’s son, the one she assist himto get his first break, when he became aware of the challenges around the car could have oraginised for Lacey’s arrest, as time went by Lacey’s suspicion were becoming true. Her car could have been searched but was protected by black tea. Yes, Lucille(Stepmom) had once helped herself with Mr Mansfield safe key but was caught quicker and had to confess where she hid them, in her wardrobe, bold she was. A friend of Lacey’s when her first car was stolen once told her it takes seconds to unlock and steal a car. Maybe more honest than Lacey-she thought to herself. Did she know the gun was there or his bank books? After all Lucille and Candice went on a searching mission of Mr Mansfield belonging while in hospital fighting for his life, leaving evidence of their investigation behind. Was she trying to kill him? Or was the gun going to be used somewhere by her and Mr Mansfield framed?Revelation through dreams

Lucille was tough and chubby in physique. At times it seemed like she suffered from a condition that made her loose her firmness not because of age. She was old on some days she looked good. One could suggest she was provoked; no it was before the provocation. Meredith was looking for a permanent holiday, but she went to the wrong place. Mr. Mansfield’s car stolen, it’s smelled like Lucille’s work, did Lacey enjoy blaming Lucille? Oh no! Keys disappeared and when rendered useless would appear at times in strange places. Wardrobe keys, cars and safe keys. They were going to try and make her jealous, but she was good, God had warned, she was going to survive. Now that Lacey felt like she had figured her out better, could the Grekos (Lucille’s extended family) make such claims about the Mansfield especially with the pride they were displaying? The babes spoke, if one didn’t know better one would think they were rich. Conversation recorded, offensive message received, not on her watch, if she was better why were they not at her place? The Mansfield were under survelliance the question would be why? Lucille let it slip.

Lacey was tired of them; they were not hers, rude no she was going to send them packing, the children. Mr Mansfield was too nice or rather sick or emotionally and psychologically disturbed, Lacey had to explore that, she herself finally figured out what was wrong with her she was in shock The Ghetto had landed on their door step and was refusing to change The street was going to be used to hold them ransome, but she was no Esau. Excuse Lacey she didn’t have the patience with the rudeness of the children toying with her brother’s memory while behaving like criminals, oh they were children suffering abuse, why not take them to their father’s place? Since they were climbing neighbours walls. The cheek Lindel had? She comes in suggesting Meredith’s son was abused, by who? By being left alone? Lacey was not going to allow her stepsister make her a punchingbag in her own home being enabled by onemysterious policeman. Yes, she was aware that she once dated one. Lacey didn’t apply for a nanny job neither did she apply for a maid one, Mr Mansfield was alone in that. She had seen Meredith leave them while pursuing a man, why should she care? Their father called, who did he think he was in their household by the way? He couldn’t take care of them thus the Mansfield’s burden. Meredith was busy gallivanting and concorting lies only the Lord knew what she was busy with. Actually she discovered it was Meredith’s modus operandi to accuse people of things. Was it her way of making money? Evidence found, was that why she was trying to frame Lacey with potential murder? It was no longer a squabble between steps, even the investigators were concerned. Could she had found a way of stealing her book? Innocence left as she read the court document, favour was being shown now she stood almost accused of murder. The Mansfield became hostages in their own home, the lawyers were giving excuse which left Lacey confused, a Magistrate understand things and would not waste time suggesting things that didn’t work.
