About this ebook
Norrit and Hale's visit to Tinsleberry leads to an unexpected opportunity.
Norrit and Hale follow a nightly routine: gather star dust and moon dust in a big red balloon. Use the harvest to fuel wish-granting machinery at Starry-Eyed Station that serves requests of grandparents for their grandchildren (and sometimes requests of grandchildren for themselves).
But sometimes, they need to take a day off and tackle errands.
And today in Tinsleberry, people waiting for them want to have a very particular conversation.
More than Norrit and Hale know rests on the outcome of this visit.
Join Norrit and Hale, the patron saints of grandparents, in a one-of-a-kind adventure.
This short story originally appeared in the collection The Adventures of Norrit and Hale.

Norrit and Hale and the Dance of the Gods
by R.S. Kellogg
Norrit gripped the familiar, comforting texture of the rim of the balloon’s basket with his gloved hands.
He and his best friend Hale, immortal legends and the patron saints of grandparents, both wore their tough-but-comfortable gray jumpsuits, warm coats, and hats. Together, they stood silently in the basket as their big red hot air balloon hung suspended in the air before its descent toward Tinsleberry.
To the side of him, Hale sniffled.
Norrit had a sneaking suspicion that Hale was feeling a little emotional, but he didn’t say anything about it aloud.
His friend was often awestruck or emotional at great beauty, even when he’d seen something thousands of times before.
And the scene beneath them now was nothing if not idyllic.
Below them, Norrit and Hale could see the little town laid out like a miniature toy village. A small train track connected up to the town from its long passage through the trees and back to the rim of Breadcove Bay City. The houses and store in the town below were laid out like little blocks, and power sleds moved along the roads.
Norrit could see the fresh snow of last night’s snowfall still resting like a great blanket on the fields around the town, coating the roofs of the buildings below.
Most of the buildings in Tinsleberry were only one story tall, but many were built up on raised platforms, with
