    About the Author

A Word on Authenticity of Myths:

The world of this story is a bit of an alternate reality space. Here, St. Nicholas has been operating for many generations as a Santa Claus figure, and the village where Jane’s family lives in the north has had some association with him as a living ageless being for many years.

The story does not follow the actual time lines of Christmas evolution and myths.

I hope you will enjoy it in the spirit of good fun, and tarry for a spell with the romance around how Nicholas may have come to fall in love.

    Cheers,

    R.S. Kellogg

    by R.S. Kellogg

It was the last week of January.

Even though frost slicked the kitchen windows and Jane’s hands felt cold as she peeled potatoes, her cheeks felt flushed and her heart was warm. Hot water from the great pot on the stove was starting to send a cloud of steam up, and Jane was grateful for the warmth from the steam, the stove, and the fireplace to help take the edge off of the cold in the kitchen. The air smelled of raw potatoes, some with dirt still on them
