Becoming a Knight for Jesus Christ - Jeff Kissell

    Forward

This study is for the purpose of becoming more like Jesus. These are outlines from different classes that I have taught over the years that I have put into order. I hope that these will help each person grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The most important thing in the world is not our health, or how much we have. The most important thing is that we have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I mean to have an intimate, personal relationship. This study will help you to grow and develop an intimate relationship.

In the back, are three supplemental materials. First of all, is a Bible reading schedule. This is reading the New Testament. It should be done during the first half of this course. Secondly, is a Surrender List. This should be filled out after section five, Seeker of the Hero. Once this is filled out, each item on the list is to be prayerfully given to Jesus and then the list should be burned. This is represented of the sacrifice that could not be taken back, and once these are surrendered to Jesus Christ, we should not take them back. The last item is a certificate. This is to be signed by the person giving the material.

This study is best done on a one-to-one basis or maybe a few people at a time with one person acting as a mentor/teacher. If you are doing it on your own, ask the Holy Spirit to be your teacher and guide. I also recommend that as you are going through this study that you limit the amount of outside information coming into your brain. This way one can listen more to the direction and teaching of the Holy Spirit. All scripture in this guide is from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

My hope is that you will enjoy these lessons as much as I enjoyed making them and teaching them. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, a threefold cord is not quickly broken. We have a threefold guide: we have a perfect teacher which is the Holy Spirit, our salvation is complete in a perfect Savior, Jesus Christ, and we have the perfect Word of God, the Bible. With these three we cannot lose.

Enjoy and may Jesus Christ bless you.

    Introduction

As with any program, there must be a purpose. The purpose of this study is to become a disciple of Jesus. This is accomplished through prayer, Bible study and working through the different levels of being a Seeker. Before one can come to the truth, one must seek to know the truth.

    The levels of Seeking are:

Seeker of Wisdom—this is seeking to know more about God.

Seeker of Truth—this is seeking to know more about Jesus.

Seeker of Comfort—this is seeking to know more about the Holy Spirit.

Seeker of Guidance—this is seeking to know more about the Bible.

Seeker of a Hero—this is seeking to know more about those who have been faithful.

Seeker of Servanthood—this is seeking to know more about where we have our place.

Seeker of Change—this is seeking to become more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Once the seventh level is complete then one becomes a Knight of the Cross. This allows for the Knight to teach and train up others to also become Knights of the Cross.

The symbol is the cross and the crown. This is a reference to Jesus enduring the cross in order to obtain the crown. We also must be willing to endure the cross that we are to bear so that at the end of the training we can also wear the crown. As it is with this study, so it is with life. As we strive to become more like Jesus, we will overcome the temptations and let go of the weights that would hinder our growth. The goal is to become more like Jesus and less like ourselves. We put the old man (ourselves) on the cross and take up the new man (who we are in Christ) daily. This allows us to take on the image of Christ.

The journey may be long and bumpy, but the end is worth it. Are you ready to begin?
