Discovering Your True Identity in Christ - Coria Brock

    Introduction

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

    —2 Corinthians 4:4, NIV

Without having Christ in our life and without knowing for what we are created, we all try to look for the answer of who we are in the knowledge of the world. We all try to gain our self-value and build our lives based on our own understanding and with our own hands. What is the result? I found that this approach led me to a place where I felt like I was stuck in the mud or had fallen in a trap.

The Ruler of this world, the devil, is full of lies.

We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. (

    1

    John

    5

    :

    19

    , NIV)

. . . He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John

    8

    :

    44

    , NIV)

For these reasons, we should not and cannot find our value, our purpose, and our identity from the world. Because we are created by God, we must look only to Him for these things.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis

    , NIV)

Before I discovered and accepted my identity in Christ, I was full of bitterness and pain. I had stopped dreaming the dreams that I had had in my youth. I made many wrong decisions which brought consequences to my life. The biggest decision I made, and the one with the most negative consequence, was to believe and accept the lie the world told me about who I was—that I was rubbish. When I accepted this lie, I surrendered my life to the world and believed that I was only worthy of being treated like a piece of trash. The end result was that I treated myself like I was not worthy of being cherished and that my life had no meaning. When life is without purpose, it becomes completely pointless.

Now, however, the One who created me has found me in the trash heap. He has cleansed me with His own blood and told me that I am a pearl, the pearl He had created me to be. He redeemed me and showed me that my life has meaning and purpose. So, I am no longer the same, but now live in His beauty and full of joy. This is His desire for you as well: to set you free from the lies of this world so that you can live in His glory! This is the reason that the Lord led me to write this book, Discovering Your True Identity in Christ.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm

    139

    :

    14

    , NIV)

10.You are Chosen because you are His bride.

11.You are a Conqueror because Jesus has won.

12.You are His because He is your God.

    Opening Prayer

Abba, this is a book of Your message of truth. Not even one word is from my own mind and soul. This is all about Your love for Your children, those who are lost and wandering in this world. Abba, You taught me through my life and revealed Your truth with Your great love. For I once was lost but now I am found, and You are the one who found me. As You told me, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1 : 5 , NIV) I am created in Your perfect and beautiful image. Now, Abba, let the lessons I have learned be spoken and spread wide and be a blessing for the many who are trapped. May they be set
