BIG FAMILIES WAS the norm during my parents day. Mom and Dad had 13 children: Jimmie (01.01.1917 – 07.08.1985,) Emma (07.16.1918 – 01.01.1919,) Clarence (12.22.1919 – 05.09.2001,) William (03.14.1922 – 09.22.2004,) Mary Olivia (04.04.1924 – 07.26.1990,) Augustus, Jr., (02.23.1926–07.13.2009,) Celia Ann (03.15.1928 – 10.01.1987,) Jonas (03.15.1930 – 03.30.1930,) Sam (07.21.1931 –), Triplets: Minnie Mae (01.15.1933 – 01.21.1933,) Mattie Mae (01.15.1933 – 01.15.1933,) and Walter (01.15.1933 – 01.15.1933) and a Stillborn (09.23.1934.) Mama died 09.23.1924 during child birth.
The seven flag poles represent the seven siblings who lived to reach adulthood. Dad and mom’s family was a military one. All seven adult siblings or their husbands served in the military.
Dad registered for the military on 06.05.1917, but was deferred due to a wife and one child. His Registration Card Number was #73. He was 23 years old at the date of registration. He was a natural born citizen, married with one child and he signed the registration form with his mark X
but was deferred by marriage.
