The Family Reunion

From miles and miles away they came

to see their precious beloved ones.

They talk and cry; they laugh and sing

of every little happening.

Their hearts are joyful as they can be,

And, yet, they weep for the lost

they cannot see.

The childlike frolics, they come to mind

As they share and remember what’s left behind.

Oh, their hearts are aflutter with days gone by,

And, for a time, they have left today by the wayside.

But, all too soon, the hours have past;

They have questioned and pondered to the very last.

The good-byes are at hand.

Their hearts crumble, you see,

As they tuck away every precious memory.

They laugh, and they hold everything in their heart,

As they say their good-byes, and, then, do they part.

The surname MOORE has two possible sources of origin, one from the Old French more,- ‘swarthy’ and the other from the Old English mor, - ‘marsh.’

Once everyone was known by a single name bud this led to confusion and so an extra name was adopted Thus, a man named Jhon who was of swarthy complexion might be known as ‘John (the) Moore, ‘and William who dwelt near a marsh as ‘William (of the) Moore, ‘the additional name eventually be coming hereditary as a surname.

Early records mention William de More of Suffolk in the Domesday Book of 1086; fohannes fitius More of Lincolnshire in the records of tite Templars (1185) and Simon atte Moore in the 1296 Subsidy Rolls of Sussex.

Sir John Moore (1761-1809) was a famous British general who died at Coruna after defeating the French army.

Among early emigrants from England to America was John Moore who is recorded in Massachusetts in 1631. Benjamin (Moore (1748-1816) was celebrated (American protestant Episcopal clergyman

The arms illustrated may be described hereldically as: Azure, on a chief Moor’s head proper wreathed about the temples; and for Motto: ‘Vis Unita fortior. Writers of the past have attributed symbolism to the tinctures and charges of her-aldry-titus, azure (blue) is said to denote Loytdty; or (gold), generosity; and gules (red), Magnanimity. The rest obviously is intended as a pun on tite surmane, and the motto may be translated as ‘’Strength united is the powerful’
