Chapter 1

What a beautiful moon, Idris thought. A blood moon, the radio presenter had said, just before it broke down, along with her car. A blessing in disguise, because who knows where she would have been and she might have missed this beautiful phenomenon in the sky.

With a slight pinkish shine and so low on the horizon that she could almost touch it. It seemed that if she got out of her car now and just walked straight ahead, she could step right onto it.

The car battery and her mobile phone were both flat as a dime and she was stranded in the middle of a forest.

It seemed the most logical thing to do was to stay in her car. But as darkness set in, the moon rose and the sounds of the night began to echo, she began to doubt her sanity. Shouldn't she have just stayed at home? No, she thought firmly. She had to find her sisters.

She had not expected that her little Toyota, which had been in service for years, would suddenly break down. She always took good care of it, but she didn't have the money to get the car serviced regularly.

Lost in thought, she kept staring at the moon. The ideal moment for a weather...

Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the window. With a small scream, she turned to the cause of the sound. A half-naked savage stood beside her car.

After what seemed like an eternity, she suddenly saw headlights appear. Her heart jumped. A tow truck!

Out of the truck emerged a man as attractive as the half-naked sheriff. He chatted and gave something to the sheriff who turned and walked to her car. He pressed the badge against the window so that she could clearly read the word Sheriff and a serial number. The badge looked real, as far as she could tell of course. This was the first time she had seen a Sheriff's badge in real life and not on TV.

She opened the window a fraction again. What was the name of the town again?
