About this ebook

I have considered myself to be fortunate to have had two parents who cared for me, a younger brother who had been my best friend, as well as others, not family members, who've inspired to persevere, despite the obstacles or just to simply appreciate the joy of daily living.  I would like to thank Julie Pletcher, Morris C. Brown, Amy B. Brown, Warren Brown, Mrs. Campbell, Anna Henderson, Dorothy Bray, Ronald Wells, and Sylvia Stockdill, who have moved on to the next chapter in their existence.

In this book, I couldn't help but remember my childhood. My best friend and younger brother, Joey, and I did so many things together.  We learned our lessons along the way. Joey and I learned how to pray.  We always knew it was personal.  Despite being poor, we learned to persevere through the power of our prayers.

    Introduction:

Inever really appreciated anyone, until they’re gone from my life.  Without having those memories to capture in my heart before they flew away, is something I believe everyone does in hopes of remembering those happy moments.  It helps us to cope in our lives, because sooner or later, we will follow in their footsteps.  Perhaps, we need to leave a positive example of sort in someone’s life, so our own life had a purpose.

    Julie Pletcher

My first real experience in dealing with the loss of a special someone happened, while in junior high.  Her name was Julie Pletcher and to me, she was an angel.  I had met her while learning to swim at Robinson’s Swimming Pool in Dover, Florida.

One day she popped out of the water, like a mermaid, to introduce herself.

Julie couldn’t help but notice how much I was struggling in trying to swim.

Julie had me lay on my back, while she put her hands under me, teaching me to float. Once I was shown how to float, I knew I couldn’t drown.

Every now and then, when I was at the pool, Julie would spend time with me, because she was always at the pool.  Julie lived a few houses down from the pool.  She’d ride her bicycle along the stretch of highway, never knowing that it would be the cause of her death.  Julie was hit by a car.

I never realized how many people knew Julie, until I found a group of kids my age sitting on the front steps at Tomlin Junior High.  They were praying for her to wake up from her coma.  As cold as this may sound, I already knew
