Being The Guardians - Surya Sunil Kumar

    Chapter 1

The shaped clouds were moving on with the tales they told. The Sun brightened the land as he was awakening the summer. The spring season couldn't stop the birds from chirping as they flew. Squirrels ran up and down the trees as if they were feeling frozen as if in the season with coolness as cold as ice. Old folks were just having their discussion on the matters of lives and kids were merrily playing without knowing the happenings of the world. Parents were busy with their work to earn their living and grown-ups were in their journey of finding their hidden treasures. All above the age of twelve was taken to somewhere far from the city, that was a custom, a rule to be followed only then would the children be trained for good. After all there was nothing to worry, for there existed no one who hurt or harm others. Everyone was a family neither did they have a ruler. They themselves were their leaders and everything was possibly better. Nevertheless, it wasn't the best.

The running water were crystal clear and animals were ending up their thirst from there as they returned to the dense woods. Behind that woods, where were the children were taken. There was the academy but it was a secret from the world.

The balmy breeze was to be enjoyed. It flew in through the open windows into the accommodation of the academy as secretly as the sun rays did enter. The wind caressed her to feel the day but she was still asleep. She was having a good sleep even when the Sun was jealous on her. She was in the beds of her room in the hostel of the academy. The academy was a luxurious modern building with classic sculptures and monuments that told history. It was a semi circled asymmetrical architecture with a view of greenery from all around and there stood a great water fountain at the middle of the path in the gate way. Through the gate, it led to the arch shaped entrance of the academy by stepping on a well-polished and stone-tiled foot path. Apart from huge classes, there was laboratories, clinics, library and more facilities well maintained.

MASTER YUVA! THE POTIONS were completely given to the first batch of this academy, yesterday, one of the worker informed.

No one has waken up yet, Yuva, said his wife, Mita. The gorgeous plump woman of a medium height with brown curly hair in the long gown was done with making the breakfast. She was ordinary except having her robotic right arms. In the 30th century no one could be physically weak. All the fractured parts could be replaced by the inventions of robotic parts. The tall aged and good looking sturdy man in a black moustache and short beard dressed in a casual wear with a red cloak over it made him look stranger. He was Yuva, the master of the academy, who trained the children. He was the first ever child who discovered powers in himself and being aged, his power remains the same. He lives more than any human, not that forever but for some extended magical period. He replied, Mita! They would be only up by noon.

By the beginning of the 30th century, the students were secretly took to the forest were they were trained but it was for the first time the children were taken to a secret academy, far from the running people that too behind the thick woods. The Wonder academy did just take nine students for its first batch. This time, the group was not being simply trained. They really had to use it for the mankind to survive. There was a bigger threat existing in the reality.

The people in the outside world, had everything just like before. Everything was quite normal. The resources were used up according to their needs. Everything was at its best standard except the lives. The human species were being endangered due to the natural causes. Fate had such different obstacles to be sent to challenge the ones who deteriorated the life on Earth. After continuous awareness, humans did reduce the unwanted things like use of plastic, reduction in use of chemicals, but what not the nature was punishing them. The population was reduced to its half and they are counting down to zero. The human species was at risk. However, every problem had a solution. The freaks of the era had studied the situation and was still searching for a solution. The natural phenomenon were taking the lives of many and sure enough there was a way to solve it, a way to save lives but it was yet to be found. Anyhow the rest of them left were living in fear but still enjoying the last of their time in life. Time standard in the day wasn't the same like the bygone years, day had greater duration and nights were short. There was no specific season, all of it came merged at once as there remained no bigger natural ice berg but the melted one was frozen using technology in the Polar Regions.

Back in the Wonder academy, the workers were having their own duties. Some were engaged in cleaning while others in helping and rest in cooking. Navya was the one among the thirteen workers who had the power to use air, so cleaning wasn't a tough job for her. Navya did clean up halfway and then she came towards the next room in the hostel that had a view of the dense woods and a glimpse of the city beyond it. That room was painted turquoise. There was a grey window that let in the nature's blessings. One side of the room had sliding glass that led to a small balcony. The room had a deluxe bed, on which she was laying and next to it was a periwinkle coloured nightstand. On the other side, was the dressing table and sky blue coloured wardrobe which stood in a small square leading to the restroom. There was a navy blue high back chair on the corner, and in front of the bed was a wall mirror. The things were comfortable and cozy but none of the nine children of the batch was awakened. Navya was just dusting off things and a while later, she was paused at seeing the world who never thought of the army being trained to fight for them. Human manners lasts the same, centuries before they never thought of them and it's still the same now. Navya slid the glass door as she stepped back from the balcony and put down the curtains and was about to walk to the next room. When she suddenly screamed, Master! Her voice echoed the whole academy and the very next moment Mita and Yuva were there in the room only to see what they have never expected. Mita asked, How is this possible?

    Yuva replied, It's a miracle.

Navya put on, She must still be asleep, isn't it?

    Yuva answered, Yes. But...

The girl in the bed was blinking her eyes. She was trying to open it up only to see the day light. Her eyelids were shivering and eyeballs were searching for something. A voice echoed in her mind, Soar into the sky only to remember every star twinkling in there wants us to win. Her eyes were opened in a hurry and the first scene was blurred. She could see two woman and a man looking at her in surprise. They were staring at her in peculiar looks. The girls rubbed her eyes as she gradually stretched herself. It felt like she hadn't felt the Sun on her for days. Her shivering fingers found themselves stable at the hit of the Sun rays as Navya pulled up the curtain. The morning was brighter than ever. She pushed herself up and pulled down the blanket covered over her. She sat looking around at the bizarre situation of everyone staring at her and she was staring at them in turn. She saw herself in the long mirror hooked at the wall. There she was! A gorgeously innocent face was captured in the mirror screen. Dark black sparkling eyes, long black blonde braided hair with side bangs falling over her eyes. The young aged beauty was in a colourful attire. She was tall and fit enough to show off a guardian look. She stepped on the floor and slowly walked towards the balcony leaving others behind; she looked at the beautiful view of the morning like a little child enjoying the beauty of her dream world.

Yuva, Mita and Navya were still in shock. The girl walked back to the table on which was a red cloak sitting folded and a glass filled with water. She took in a sip to cover her thirst and then turned to the strangers as she sat at her mattress. The three of them smiled at her and Yuva pulled a chair and sat in front of her. He asked, How do you feel now?

The soft gentle voice replied, I am okay.

He nodded but the girl asked, What is all this? Where am I? When did I end up in here? Who are you? How did I reach here? Which is this place?

He replied, It's all miracle, dear. You will understand it all by noon when your friends get up.

    The girl asked curiously, Friends?

He nodded, Tell me! How did you wake up so early?

Early? The girl looked around, Have you lost track of time?

They nodded, Things will be getting clear. Take rest!

Three of them walked out, closing the wooden door. She couldn't get answers for any of her questions. Who were they? What was that place? Why was the red cloak given? Who are her friends? Where is her home? Apart from all those questions, she wanted to know why she was sleeping for so long than usual. Moreover, who was she? When a lot of questions were spinning in her mind, she did think of taking a tour round that place. She was free to roam in that spacious academy. She really loved the place and the woods in front of the academy walls made it more suspicious to her. There was a worker keeping an eye on her but she never minded. She walked through all the ways and most of the hostel rooms were closed. She knew there was others inside. Her eyes then met Navya getting out of the room in the corner. Navya was awestruck at the girl who was walking to her. She was right in front of Navya, Why am I here?

Navya denied, I don't know. She turned ahead to walk out of there but the girl stopped her, Atleast tell me, who am I?

    Navya turned to her, murmuring.

You are a miracle, cut in another sound. Its resonance flew in air all over. She turned to the owner of the voice and there stood Yuva. She narrowed her eyes, Miracle, huh?

He nodded, Wait till noon and I will tell you everything.

Mita added, Dear, patience is very necessary.

She asked, Who am I? My name?

    Yuva answered, "Dhwani Ira."

    Mita called, "Ani."

She then walked past them to the room of glasses in the garden that was at the back yard. She sat there looking around and observing the green beings that pranced with the wind. Soon, she was lost in enjoying solitude.

Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door and as her eyes ran to the door-step, there was Navya. She had brought the baked buns for breakfast. Dhwani smiled at her and so Navya sat down, handing over the tray of breakfast to her. She took a sip of water and munched on the buns while Navya was looking at her differently. Dhwani rose her eyebrows and Navya asked, How did you wake up before noon?

    Dhwani asked, Why?

Navya went on, What are there in your memories?

Dhwani tried collecting, It's blanked out.

Navya continued, Anyways, I am Navya. The worker of this place. Great meeting you!

She plastered a smile, As you know, Dhwani. So... Why do you feel great in meeting me?

    Navya gave a strange smile.

Dhwani shook her head, So, what is this place?

Navya denied, Your answers are with that couple whom you met before.

Dhwani nodded, Fine! But why do you ask me weird questions about my waking time.

Navya marked, Nothing, just simply. She took the tray and headed to the door as she walked back to the university. Dhwani sat there, continuing to think. Some
