Jets

Jets are all about speed!

These superspeedy aircraft are sleek and simple to make, but they’re stable, strong, and fun to fly! They can be anything you want them to be, from Boeing 747s to fighter planes such as Raptor or Falcon.

The Original

Learn the original—and some might say, the best—paper plane design!

1. Place your paper so that it is portrait. Fold it from left to right down the middle line, then unfold it again.

2. Fold the left-hand corner into the middle, making sure to line up the top edge with the middle crease.

3. Repeat step 2 on the right-hand corner.

4. Fold the top left-hand diagonal side into the middle crease.

5. Repeat step 4 on the right-hand diagonal side. Your jet plane is taking shape!

6. Now, carefully fold the left-hand diagonal side again into the middle crease.

7. Repeat step 6 on the right-hand diagonal side. You need to press the folds harder as the paper gets thicker.

8. Turn over your jet plane, keeping the point at the top.

9. Fold the right side over to the left, using the middle fold you made in step 1.

10. At the bottom of your plane, lift the top flap a little bit and fold a small triangle. Then, unfold it so that it is slightly raised.

11. Turn over your plane and repeat step 10.

12. Now your jet plane is ready to take off! Carefully open out its wings, aim high, and watch it fly.

The Classic

Make this classic jet with some added aerodynamic features.

1. Place your paper so that it is portrait. Fold it from left to right down the middle line, then unfold it again.

2. Fold the left-hand corner into the middle, being sure to line up the top edge with the middle crease.

3. Repeat step 2 on the right-hand corner.

4. Fold the top left-hand diagonal side into the middle crease.

5. Repeat this step for the right-hand diagonal side.

6. Fold the left side over to the right, using the middle fold you made in step 1.

7. Lift the top flap and fold it over to the left. It should overlap the straight edge a little bit, as shown. This forms the first wing.

8. Turn your plane over, then repeat step 7 to form the second wing. Make sure the wings are the same size.

9. Now fold back the top wing a little to create a wing tip.

10. Turn over your plane, then repeat step 9 for the second wing, making sure that the folded edges line up with each other.

11. Holding the plane by the long middle fold, open out the wings and adjust the wing tips—you’re ready to fly!
