Materials
• 1.4m (1½yd) solid cream fabric (background and binding)
• Fat quarter of dark brown print fabric (bias stems)
• Large assortment of scrap fabrics — Jennifer used reproduction prints (appliqué and scalloped border)
• 1.2m (1⅜yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 120cm x 96cm (47in x 38in)
• Template plastic and freezer paper — or see Jennifer’s Product Tip for alternatives
• Chalk marking pencil such as Sewline
• Roxanne’s Glue Baste It or similar appliqué glue
• 12mm (½in) bias maker
• Size 10 or 11 milliner’s (straw) needles
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine
• General sewing supplies
Preparation and cutting
1 Trace Templates A-K and the border guide from the Pattern Sheet onto template plastic, label them and cut them out accurately. Using the templates, trace eight Template A and one Template C onto the matt side of the freezer paper and cut them out on the lines.
