    PREFACE

I am on a mission to find my roots. I wish to know from where my ancestors originated before they were dropped off on the shores of Guyana. I wish to know their languages, religions, and status in their communities. I know that this piece of history is probably lost forever. In this circumstance, my mission begins with my maternal great-grandparents and my paternal grandparents.

Since Digging Through My Roots was first published, several of my relatives have expressed appreciation that they were able to see their place in our ancestral family tree. As a result, they eagerly provided feedback and additional information about some of our family members. I felt the need to share these updates with the family by publishing a second edition. Below are some of the additions and revisions:

    • two chapters about life in Guyana in the 1950s

    • additional names of relatives and clarification of familial relationships

    • additional pictures that expand
