Sam White

Sam “Indigo” White, our average young, African American male, struggles in a society that devalues his self-worth. He continues to recover from spiritual violations and victimization, to practice self-validation. Although incarcerated physically, he is mentally and emotionally free, thus lives to consciously promote the power of the word, as he greets those at the intersection of uncertainty, and provides a service that is his true calling. Golden Winters continues to thrive from humble beginnings, as they gracefully perform in the spirit of the Griot. Golden immersed in her Creole and Gullah Ceechee Culture-(knowing) and in her own narratives tell the story of love, oppression, self-determination, with passion and self-recovery. Her words echo through the dark dirt roads of Mississippi, Bayous of Louisiana, and whispers of Low Country, South Carolina, the Dunes of Indiana, allegedly progressive metropolitan cities and the halls of industrial complex institutions (Prisons). She is a daughter of the universe and with principle manifests love to uplift and inspire.

    FOREWORD

    From Indigo:

Golden, better known to me as Aunt Robbie, is one of the most powerful women I’ve ever known. She climbed out of the marginalized anguished communities assigned to us. Collaborating with my aunt on this project has been both a privilege and honor. I now know my worth, and am not alone with disappointments, and false starts. It is a daily struggle to dodge labels. I just want to make amends with all those I hurt, and the best way to color people with love is through heartfelt expression. I just want to survive the indictments, fall in a good woman’s love again, and grow old with my family.

Auntie’s love for humanity is profound. During my incarceration, she has founded a media outlet to share my voice, thoughts and source of awareness. She encouraged me to explore the world through books, and challenged me to my own conscientious thinking. Her unique poetic expressions have inspired me in many ways, in particular to have faith, not all darkness is bad and not all light is good. I am proud to be a part of this lineage.

    From Golden:

This book is dedicated to all my sisters and brothers on lockdown, locally, national and internationally. We have a crisis when human beings are no longer of value and become stock commodities. I encourage all to find their way through multiple avenues of expression. No one can share your true narratives but you.

No matter where I’m residing, I do my best to stay in touch with family across the country. While residing in Grand Canyon, AZ I began to reach out to my nephew Samuel Demetrius White. The family calls him Little Man.
