    ASH WEDNESDAY

Every day is a new day.

Every beginning is a new beginning.

Try to find a new way

    To avoid and prevent sinning.

God has given us a choice,

Free will to decide what to do.

God has given us a voice.

May we speak from a heart that is true.

    May we speak carefully,

    Thinking before we talk.

    May we speak kindly,

As on God’s path we walk.

May we not speak in hatred.

May we not speak to hurt.

May we respect what is sacred.

    May our minds be alert

    That God knows everything

    As he watches from above.

May we realize all the blessings

When we speak of our God’s love.

    2/27/20

Dear God, thank you for the rain.

    Thank you for the waters

    That come down from heaven,

    Nourishing your sons and daughters.

    Fill us with your blessings.

    Fill us with your love.

    May we always be expressing

    Our reverence and love.

    Luke 9:23–25 are some of

    My favorite gospel verses.

To be a true disciple of Christ

To follow him, my life emerges.

Every day I take up my cross.

I wear it for those who see.

    I will follow Jesus.

I give my all to be

    An active layperson

    Of truth and honesty.

My hope and faith are in the Lord

    For all eternity.

    2/28/20

    God, you know us.

    You care and love us.

    You know our hearts.

    You know everything about us.

What we do can please you.

What we do can displease you.

It is up to us to be honest with you.

There can be nothing we can hide.

Please create in me a clean heart,

    A heart pleasing to you,

A reflection of your great love

In all I say and do.

    Please give me the grace

    To face my sin,

    To change my ways,

    As I begin

    To live as a disciple

    Both outwardly and within.

    2/29/20

    For love and forgiveness.

    That’s why Jesus was sent.

    To reach out to sinners

    For their change, the
