Joyfully His: Walking Daily with God
By Judy Klug
()
About this ebook
19 years ago Judy answered a call by God to write and distribute a daily devotion. God’s daily inspiration and sustainment has remained constant in spite of personal and worldwide challenges. This compilation of daily devotions will provide inspiration and accountability each day for an entire year. May God bless you as he has blessed those who originally received these devotions.
Judy Klug
Like the original disciples, God chose an unlikely shepherd to carry His message. Wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, Sunday School Teacher, and former church choir director, describe Judy but her deep devotion to God and her dependency on Him to provide daily verses and meditations are her only qualifications to be His author.

FOREWORD
Hebrews 13:20-21
²⁰ Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, ²¹ equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (NIV)
This book is dedicated to the glory of God and with awe and wonder of the work He has done through his faithful servant, Judy Klug. In 2001, Judy felt called by God to share a daily devotion via email to her friends. She has remained faithful to a continuous daily call for over 19 years and sends those devotions to hundreds of friends in addition to posting them on social media. Her single purpose has simply been to be obedient to the call and message of the Holy Spirit. God has been faithful to provide His message to her every single day in spite of personal and world circumstances; a testimony in and of itself of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness (Ex 34:6).
This is a simple compilation of her published devotions from Oct 2019 through Sep 2020. You will see that on occasion, God inspired Judy to show that the timeless nature of His inspired scripture applies equally to today’s issues as it did to issues of Biblical history. On a few occasions, her devotions are deeply personal; a reflection of God’s activity in her life that very day. In spite of failing health and tragic loss of her husband in 2004, God has continued to inspire her daily and provide the strength and clarity-of-thought to remain obedient to His call. Clearly God has used a 19-year nearly perfect record of consistency as a miraculous testimony to His sovereignty and His faithfulness in equipping those He calls into His service.
Many of her faithful readers have shared that these devotions are central to their own personal or family devotions and have called to inquire about her if she misses her usual publication time. Some forward this to others prompting several total strangers to reach out to Judy for prayer and counseling. In all of this, she remains humbly focused not on the outcome, but on the call and on her responsibility to be obedient to that call. She clearly feels God’s constant presence, receives a daily message from Him, and rests in his unfailing love: her true source of joy and contentment. Undoubtedly this is why she could sign her daily devotions each and every day in spite of her own or world circumstances, Joyfully His.

49873.pngHAPPY NEW YEAR!
Numbers 6:24-26
"The Lord bless you
and keep you;
²⁵ the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
²⁶ the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace." (NIV)
MEDITATION:
As we begin a new year, may these verses make themselves evident in your life every day. May the joy of the Lord fill your heart to overflowing. May your eyes be opened to see God’s blessings during happy times, during painful experiences and even during sorrow and grief. Keep your eyes upon Jesus and see God’s blessings poured out on you.

49873.pngTHE LESSON FOR US
Matthew 2:1-6
1) Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ²
Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." ³ When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. ⁵ They said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:
⁶ ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
Are by no means least among the leaders of Judah;
For out of you shall come forth a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.’" (NASB)
MEDITATION:
It’s interesting that Herod did not consult his wise men, but sought out the leaders and learned men of Israel. They were able to tell him what the prophet had said about Messiah’s birthplace. Have you ever wondered why none of the chief priests or teachers of the law went to Bethlehem to investigate what the Magi told them? Did God’s plan not match their expectations? Remember that they were expecting a political leader, but God sent His Redeemer. They were expecting a king who would overthrow the Roman conquerors and establish Israel as a leading nation in the world. They were so intent on their understanding and interpretation of Scripture that they missed the birth of our Savior. The lesson here for us is to keep our eyes and ears open to God. We do not know when Jesus is coming again, but we know that He is coming. May our hearts and minds always be ready!
JAN 3
49873.pngHEROD WILL BE HELD
ACCOUNTABLE
Matthew 2:7-8
⁷ Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared. ⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem and said,
Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him. (NASB)
MEDITATION:
Herod was not a Jew nor did he hold God in reverent esteem. He wanted to know how old the Child might be and where He could be found in order to kill the Child. In order to protect his throne, Herod had murdered his wife, his three sons, his mother-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and many others in addition to all the boy babies in Bethlehem. It is important for Christians to remember that we are to obey the government (see Romans 13:1-7) unless doing so would be an act of disobedience to God. He is our King. Early rulers are temporary, often not interested in the welfare of their subjects. It often appears that they are not answerable to anyone, but never forget that they are all answerable to God. As we continue reading the account of the visit of the Magi, we will see an example of God telling men not to obey the earthly ruler.
Someday Herod will stand before God’s judgment seat and be held accountable for all his actions. We, too, will stand before God’s judgment seat, and Jesus Christ will stand there as our intercessor. (see Hebrews 10). Jesus had come to save mankind. All who place their faith and trust in Him, will be saved from eternal punishment to eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9 John 3:16) Rejoice! Share this wonderful good news!
JAN 4
49873.pngJESUS CAME TO US, TOO!
Matthew 2:9-12
"⁹ After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. ¹⁰ When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. ¹¹ After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. ¹² And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way." (NASB)
MEDITATION:
The magi were educated men possible astronomers. At least they were familiar enough with the night skies to recognize Jesus’ star as a new star. These men came from the east indicating that they were not Israelites, but were Gentiles. God led Gentiles to find and worship His Son! Another clue that the magi were Gentiles is that they referred to Jesus as the King of the Jews. This is the name used by non-Israelites for Jesus. The Jews were expecting Messiah yet God chose to reveal Him to shepherds and Gentiles! Don’t you love the way God works? This reinforces the message that the King of the Jews came as Savior
