Make A Decision And Stop Procastinating

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said ‘How long halt ye between two opinions?’ If the lord be God, follow him. And the people answered him not a word. (1 Kings 18:21)

Israel had not totally rejected the lord but was seeking to continue worship of God with the worship of Baal. Elijah called upon them to determine whether Jehovah or Baal was the creator, supreme God, and judge of the world.

Procrastination is putting off, postponing or delaying a timely, relevant activity. There are many types and causes for procrastination. Procrastination is a process that is personal. It varies from person to person.

Procrastination is a universal deadly poison of life. When you put things off until tomorrow, you subscribe to a system of unrealistic thinking which waste away the present in an idle hope for a better tomorrow.

People afflicted with procrastination often create elaborate excuses to cover their delays. A pattern of procrastination often leads to a sense of helplessness and a lack of accomplishment.

There is not a person who does not put some things off and at some level, realize that he/she is engaging in procrastination. Even the most efficient, organized and decisive person will occasionally procrastinate.

Overcoming procrastination involves a journey in self-discovery. During the journey you develop your resources and resourcefulness. To overcome use the DO IT NOW method, means you do reasonable things in a reasonable time. Earthly pursuits are good in their proper place and time. Use the ‘DO IT NOW’ method and you will have more stress free time for yourself and you will get ahead of the game.

    The Sinfulness Of Pride

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)

We should identify all areas of pride in our lives and repent. Pride invites divine judgment. The night Belshazzar was deceived by his own pride, was the night he was judged. He was slain, and the kingdom of Babylon was overthrown, divided and given to the Medes and Persians. (Daniel 5).

The whole world has been affected by Pride. Going back to the fall of Satan, Pride was the eroding factor which brought destructions of evil and wickedness.

The deception of pride is that, it is appealing to the individual, but it is contrary to God. Pride becomes sinful when we become conceived in our own accomplishments and fail to give proper credit to the lord.

Pride gives false assurances and confidence. Pride destroys beauty. It manifests itself, not only in outright rebellion against God, but it can also manifest itself in the misuse of the things of God. Pride introduces in our life, the seeds of corruptive assumption of power. Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? (Exodus 5:2).

Repentance turns a prideful heart into one that is broken and contrite. The individual realizes that he must fully depend on God. That person is broken, waiting on God for restoration.

Check You Words Before Giving Them Liberty

The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. (Ecclesiastes 10:12)

Words are a group of sounds that have meaning. Words conceived in the intents of the heart, nourished by the virtue of the thoughts, and delivered by the tongue of man.

Words are alive, ready to destroy or ready to create. Words are immoral. Once spoken they cannot be recalled. Give ear to my words, oh lord, consider my meditation.(Psalm 5:1). Words travel like the bee, sometimes carrying fresh honey, but again like the bee, they always have the potential for terrible stings.

Words are wonderful and powerful. They must never be uttered carelessly, for they are the food for the soul and must be served with elegance. They should never be uttered for offence. David asked the lord, to let the words of his mouth, and the meditation of his heart be accepted in his sight. (Psalm 19:14).

Words can strengthen the soul like milk strengthens a baby, or poison like the sting of a viper. They can destroy the greatest army, and split the most unified body. Words can support the weary, comfort and help the blind. Once born they are perpetual, and the effect is sometimes lasting. They can cut in the heat of anger and the wounds they make are slow to heal.

Therefore, never utter them if they are cold and cruel. Never open the doors of your lips until you are satisfied that they will perform their allotted duties. Then they will being blessed like the warm sunshine, or brighten a lonely life. They are yours. Let them do their best.

    The Sins Of The Tongue

The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, so is the tongue among our members, that it defiled the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell (James 3:6)

The tongue is the movable, flesh organ in the mouth of human beings. It is used for tasting and swallowing food. It plays an important part in forming the sounds of words. It is the power of speech.

When a man gives way to anger and loses control of his tongue, he is committing sin. The tongue has many varieties which are: irritation, impatience, vexation, bitterness, wrath, resentment, temper, rage and pouting. These varieties are expressed in all sorts of ill-tempered words, ranging from the cold acid of sarcasm to the hot flame of fury.

Every expression of anger is full of danger. He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth fully. (Proverbs 14:29) A soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger (Proverbs 15:1).

The bible teaches that a man who can control his tongue can control his whole personality. If you cannot control your tongue, the bible teaches that you are in bondage.

Another sin of the tongue that is prevalent among Christians, is the sin of criticism. They run around trying to take a speck out of their brother’s eye, when they have a long one in their own eyes. Jesus said, You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye (Matthew 7:1-2).

We should ask ourselves three questions before we speak. Is it true? Is it kind? Does it glorify Christ?

    Stop Worrying And Start Living

"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life. And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how lilies of the field grow, they do not toil nor they do they spin. (Matthew 6:27-28).

Worrying is one of the most destructive habits of humans. It decreases our effectiveness in all areas of our lives.

When you worry about something, your thoughts and your emotions focus on events that have not yet taken place. Worrying is totally passive. It accomplishes nothing.

Worrying can make you sick and keep you from accomplishing the things that really matter. Amazingly you probably worry about small stuff, over which you have no control. It is not only wrong worry, it is unbelief.

Cast all your care upon him for He careth for you. (1 Peter 5:7). Casting means to throw something on something. Christians are to throw all their discontent, discouragements, despair and suffering on the lord.

You live longer by worrying less.

Don’t worry about what you cannot do, think about what god can do for you.

Worrying occurs when God is left out of the process

Don’t worry as much about where you are as about where you are going.

    Worrying is a choice.

Worrying can literally harm you emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.

The best way to stop worrying is to start praying.

Prayer changes things, worrying changes nothing.

The antidote for worrying is trusting God to take care of your problems. Invite him to get involved in the details of your life.

    We Are Called To Unity

For we, being many are bread and one body. For we are all partakers of the one bread. (1 Corinthians 10:17)

A Christian should understand that division in the church is destructive and he/she should be determined to contribute to unity in the church. Paul was ministering to the church at Corinth which was troubled by division. Paul pointed out to them that the Lord held them accountable for their division. (1 Corinthians 12).

Unity gives beauty and strength to the church. Unity in the body of Christ enhances the witness of believers. The church can measure its effectiveness in many ways but God’s ultimate measurement is love and unity. Now I beseech you brethren, by the name of our lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment (1 Corinthians 1:10). Speaking the same thing captures Paul’s initial desire for unity. No matter what they claimed, the evidence of unity was in the content of what they said.

God requires harmony among leaders (Isaiah 54:8). Jesus Christ prayed for a united church (John 17:21)

Unity sustains in times of weakness (Exodus 17:12)

Unity gives success in battle (Judges 20:11)

Unity inspires men to improve their condition (2 Kings 2:1-3)

Unity gives added power to prayer (Matthew 18:19)

HERE ARE SOME BIBLE CHARACTERS WHO DISPLAYED UNITY:

    The Church

‘Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:180)

The church is an assembly of baptized believers under the discipline of the word of God. The church is organized to carry out the great commission, the administration of the New Testament ordinances, and to exercise spiritual gifts. When a group of Christians today follows this example, it is the church in the biblical sense of the word.

The best known New Testament churches were at Jerusalem, Antioch, Thessalonian, Philippi, Corinth, Ephesus and the six cities mentioned in the revelation 2 and 3. Every Christian should follow the example of the New Testament believers by identifying with a local church and getting involved in its ministry. (Acts 2:42)

Jesus promises that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. Hell represents the kingdom of Satan, therefore it is the duty of the church to attack the gates of hell by snatching out victims from darkness into his marvelous light. Therefore the church is on the offensive and hell is on the defensive. Because of Pentecost, the believers hope and faith were renewed, they spoke boldly about their risen savior and invited people to repent and join the church. (Acts 2)

    FACTS ABOUT THE CHURCH.

It is the only organization that deals with issues

It adds value and dignity to human life.

It provides a moral and spiritual compass.

It is where you find compassion.

It has outreaches around the world that demonstrates the love of God.

It has the ability to tear down the gates of hell.

    The Church

‘Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:180)

The word church in the New Testament means a called-out assembly that is set apart for God. The word church occurs in the gospels only in Matthew 16:18 and Matthew 18:17. The church came into existence as first Jews and then gentiles.

The church established a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ and the blood he shed to redeem humankind. The bible said, For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid in Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11).

The New Testament consistently portrays the church as a person, as an institution, and never a building. The term church represents all Christians of every time and place, bound together in a universal spiritual union.

As Saul continued to persecute the church, the Christians were praying. As he approached Damascus suddenly he was blinded by a brilliant light. In the light he looked up and behold the glorious savior. (Acts 9:4). Therefore persecuting a believer is the same as persecuting Christ himself.

When we persecute the church we are invoking destruction in our lives. Remember when we want to marry we run to the church. If we need our babies to be blessed by the minister we have to go to the church. If we need to bury our loved ones we have to go to the church. LET US SUPPORT THE CHURCH.

    Walk In The Spirit

This I say then, walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

In every spiritual confrontation, believers must yield to the spirit. That is, submit his own desires to those of the spirit and will not submit to the strong desires of the sinful nature.

In Galatians 5:18, the verb ‘led’ indicates voluntary submission. The believers decided by whom he will be led, either by his flesh or by the spirit.

The word ‘walk’ is basically used in two ways in the bible.

To denote a transition from one place to another.

To indicate conduction, behavior or lifestyle.

Walking is a down-to-earth process. It involves a starting point. Walking implies progress. It also demands effort. Walking in the spirit reveals certain characteristics.

Honesty. Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (Romans 13:3).

Circumspect: See that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Wisely: Walk in wisdom towards them that are without, redeeming the Time. (Colossians 4:5).

Lovingly: Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor (Eph. 5:1-2).

The secret of the worthy walk is to yield to the Holy Spirit. This simply means complete dependence upon the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

The Spiritual Realm Has No Limits

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5).

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. It is a waste to fail to develop a spiritual mind. In these perilous times as we struggle to move on, a well-develop spiritual mind is essential. Genuine spiritual thoughts are the product of a spiritual mind, and these thoughts bear spiritual substances.

Your physical being is limited by what can be perceived by your senses. Your inner being however has unlimited ability. It is in your inner being that God can impart to you what might be, what will be, what can be and what should be.

A spiritual mind is not the same as positive thinking, although it produces positive results. Positive thinking does not have divine power. ‘For, to be carnally mined is death, but to be spiritually mined is life and peace" (Romans 8:6)

Faith is the engine that drives a spiritual mind. It is the core of the life of unlimited possibilities. Faith is what enables a person to turn spiritual thoughts into spiritual actions.

A spiritually minded person sees life events through the lens of eternity. He that searcheth the heart knoweth what is the mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:27). We will find it extremely difficult to get through any trial, pain or transition without a spiritual mind.

In the spiritual realm, when we feel tension, the wise response is to act in faith, trusting that God is leading us to a new level of maturity. The spiritual realm has all the resources to help us in the present and in the future.

    The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper is abundantly verified by all gospel stories. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tells it all. John wrote much later than the others in AD 100, and omitted nearly everything that had already been told by others, yet John’s report on the Passover fits that of the others. Still another account is given by Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:23-27 in more details than others.

The Lord’s Supper flowed out of the suffering of Jesus in the shadow of the cross. This is a recognized custom which needs no explanation or introduction. It is the strongest evidence in the course of history. Is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (1Corinthians 10:16).

Paul’s instruction concerning the Lord’s Supper in 1Corinthians 11:20-34 was a rebuke. He rebukes them because some used the Lords Supper as a carnival feast instead of a divine worship. Communion embodies the expression of the infinite love of the Father. In this Supper bears the most tender heart, the increasing force of Christianity.

The Lord’s Supper influences the believers as follows:

It refreshes the mind with the thought of the suffering savior.

It impresses with the evil of sin.

It comforts with the divine promise of forgiveness.

It expresses appreciation for divine love.

To enjoy a fellowship with Christ and his people.

To afford a period of meditation on one’s inner life, as God sees it.

To show forth the Lord’s death till he comes.

To make religion a more personal, divine, solemn, and spiritual experience.

    Heaven Is Real

‘And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea". (Revelation 21:1).

The dictionary defines heaven as the place where God and his angels live and where the blessed go after death. Heaven is God’s providence. It is a place where people of great character lives. It is the place of great happiness.

Heaven is beyond anything we have on earth or anything we can build. In my Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2). Heaven is a place of rest. It will give us security and safety forever.

In Revelation, when John caught a glimpse of heaven, he described it as a bride on her wedding day, Revelation pictures heaven as a city where we will live forever. It will be large enough to house all believers without being crowed.

The New Jerusalem will have gates of pearl, and streets of gold. On the main street in the New Jerusalem, the tree of life will be growing. Everyone will have access to it. John describes the tree of live as bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruits every month, and leaves of the tree is for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:2)

Christians are really aliens who reside for a while on this earth and they go to their true home which is heaven. Let us remember the words of James Black that was written in 1893 WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED UP YONDER I’LL BE THERE.

    Satan Is Real

I beheld Satan as a lightening fall down from heaven. (Luke 10:18).

Satan is an evil spirit that opposes God. He is the chief temper. Theologian’s considerer the devil to be a symbol of the power of evil, or the worst qualities of human nature and the destructive forces of the universe.

In the book of Job which dated from approximately 400 to 600 BC, God permits Satan to touch the faith of Job by overwhelming him with misfortunes. Satan will do mighty acts pointing to himself as supernaturally empowered. His whole operation always deceptive and enticing to the world to worship him.

He is the originator and instigator of sin. Therefore all the unsaved are under the diabolic influence of Satan. The day will come when all Satan’s activity will cease in the universe, and he will be sent away forever.

The bible said, The devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10).

Satan continually attempted to tear down the church that Christ promised to build. He was present at the churches of Jerusalem, Philadelphia, Ephesus and Corinth. Satan works lying wonders. Even him who’s coming is after the working of Satan with power and signs and lying wonders. (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

Satan opposes God’s work. The bible said, "For we wanted to come to you, I Paul more than once but Satan hindered us. (1Thes. 2:18).

    Remember be on your guard.

    JANUARY 14

    Satan Is Real

Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14).

In Christianity the devil is known as Satan. In Christianity Satan rules hell. In the Old Testament, the devil is Satan who serves as an accuser of the brethren.

The characteristics of Satan are as follows:

Presumptuous: There was a day when the sons of God presented themselves before the Lord and Satan came also among them". (Job 1:6)

Satan is proud: Satan’s condemnation was due to pride over his position. It resulted in his fall from honoring authority. This same kind of fall and judgment could easily happen to a new and weak believer put in a position of spiritual leadership.

Satan is powerful: Satan’s forces are highly structured for the most destructive purposes. The apostle Paul calls Christians to take a firm position in spiritual battle. (Eph. 6:12).

Satan is wicked: I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. (1st John 2:13).

Satan is conical: Satan answered the Lord and said, Skin for skin! Yes all that a man has he will give for his life. (Job 2:4).

Satan is crafty: But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of the devotion to Christ (2 Cor.11:3).

Satan is deceitful: Put on a whole amour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil(Ephesians 6:11).

Satan is fierce and cruel: Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walked about, and seeking whom he may devour. (1st Peter 5:8).

Let us not underestimate Satan, scriptures refers to him as the anointed Cherub, the ruler of demons, the god of this world and the prince
