    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to one of my Grandmothers, Mary Riley. She had such a gentle spirit and was a woman few in words, but when she spoke you listened. I really listened when I heard that braided switch whistling. 24057.png Although the Lord called her home, December 7, 1996, I still feel her presence with me today. I also dedicate this book to My Great Aunt Mary Lee. I love sitting at your feet. You have taught me so much and I am still learning. Please do not stop imparting your wisdom into me. You are sowing into good ground. You are truly living Titus 2:4-5 (KJV) That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

First and foremost, I want to thank God for all things. This word has been in my spirit for years and God has allowed me to finish it.

A special thank you to my parents for always believing in me and for your unfailing love and support.

To Dr. Hannah Forney, founder of Applied Faith Ministries International, for praying for me daily and keeping me on the altar because I sure need it.

To my niece, nephews, great nephews and God Daughters, I love you very much and always want you to live your best life and follow your dreams. Watching you grow has been some of my fondest moments in life.

To everyone that encouraged me to put pen to paper. This has truly been a pouring out experience for me. Now, I am expecting God to fill me up again.

To everyone that is going to read this book, THANK YOU!

    MY PRAYER FOR YOU

It is my prayer that each person that reads this book is inspired to have a deeper relationship with God and know that no matter what you have gone through, are going through, or will go through, you are a winner!

WARNING!! This book is not for the faint in heart. Some things may make your laugh. Some things may make your cry. Hopefully, others will make you stop and think about your own life experiences.

For I know the thoughts that I think towards you saith the Lord, thoughts of good and not of evil. To give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

    INTRODUCTION

There are situations and circumstances in life that can literally take the wind out of you. If you haven’t had such an experience, in the words of my grandmother, Keep a livin’. Of course as a child, I did not know what this saying meant because I took everything at face value. However, this meant while you may not understand what a person is talking about now, the longer you live and experience life, you will understand. I had an old school grandmother. Some would consider her Big Momma.

Growing up I was what you call a tomboy. I had an older brother and my closest cousins in age were boys. I had two older cousins that were girls, but they were into hair, makeup, and boys (things I was not interested in at the time). I did not even like wearing dresses or getting my hair pressed. I wanted to do everything the boys did. I climbed trees, carried wood, built houses out of wood, wrestled, ran in the fields, and played all contact sports to include football and basketball. You name it, I probably did it at least twice. Recently one of my high school classmates and I were talking. He reminded me that I was the only girl that was in the cub scouts. He said he wondered why I was not in the girl scouts selling cookies. I did not think anything about it and they did not treat me differently because I was a girl. I did everything they did. Although, I was a tomboy, I was extremely sensitive and had a heart for all people.

My grandmother did not have a lot of idle time because she was always doing something. She never had time to be bored. My grandmother did not watch much television. However, I remember her watching the news, Wheel of Fortune, wrestling and western shows. I would ask her if I could watch television with her. Sometimes, she would say, Yes. I knew that if I were granted the privilege of watching television with her, I had to be quiet, or I would have to go outside and play. On Saturday mornings my grandmother would watch wrestling. When wrestling was on, you dared not bother her or run in or out of the house. You could not tell her that wrestling was fake. This is how I learned all of the wrestlers and their signature moves. To win a wrestling match, both shoulders of the opponent had to be on the mat for 3 seconds.

If we are to win, our count must be: 1. For the Father. 2. For the Son. 3. For the Holy Spirit. The Lord made it plain to me one day that just like boxing we are in a fight. Not a physical fight, but a spiritual fight. The definition of fight is to actively oppose or combat as with weapons: to gain by struggle. Another definition is "a hostile encounter, a
