    Sea & Anchor - Shannan D. McShane

    STEP 1:

    Pass your stopper

    Love

I have come to learn that we only accept the love we think we deserve when we become impatient with time. We need to slow these fast-moving lives of our and ease back on this sense of urgency when it comes to finding a relationship; scared of being lonely as if not having someone in your twenties is devastating. We need to wait for the love that deserves US. Love may not come in your twenties or your forties, love may not come at a coffee shop or a park like the movies, it might come in the bar or a shitty pizza place. It may not come when all your friends are getting engaged or married, but one thing is for certain when you find it, you’ll know.

    Kissing my ghost

    How often have you

    Closed your eyes

    To kiss a girl

And thought of how my lips felt

    Instead of hers

    Returning

    You’re already gone

And I’m still not ready to lose you

    Please come back

And tell me you were wrong

    Guilt Trip

    Stop feeling guilty

    For being honest

    When you can’t return love

    That person deserves a chance

    To find someone else

    Who will feel the same

    Don’t say I love you

    Out of guilt

    They don’t want your pity

    Your sounds

    Your laugh is a song

That I could play on repeat

Your screams are shrill and cold

    Like nails on a chalkboard

    I want more laughs

    Loneliness

    The vast majority

    Of my inspiration

    Comes from inside

    A dark room

    Filled

    With your absence

    Redo

    This is what I want:

    A clean slate

    A second first date

Let go of our past offenses

Start over but this time do it different

    Let’s take a second shot

    And see if this time

    We have what it takes

    You know where I’ll be

    Monarch

    Patiently waiting

    For the day

    That your name

    Will stop giving me

    These butterflies

    Body language

There are things I can’t tell you

    But I wish so
