    INTRODUCTION

    In our society there are many who are unknowingly incarcerated in their own existence. Some people have been brought up in environments where they have no idea of what it means to share that giving is better than receiving and selflessness is better than selfishness. Some have grown up in environments where life and lifestyles has become so ingrained within itself that reception of the truth is oftentimes not well received.

    As quoted by the late Fredrick Douglass… "The lesson taught at this point by human experience is simply this, that the man who will get up will be helped up; and the man who will not get up will be allowed to stay down. Personal independence is a virtue and it is the soul out of which comes the sturdiest manhood. But there can be no independence without a large share of self-independence, and this virtue cannot be bestowed. It must be developed from within."

    We are standing at the crossroad of significance or inferiority. With the constant challenges brought upon us as God’s creation, it’s vitally important we make a decision on if we’re going to stand and reclaim our dominion or fold-up and allow future generations to falter from ill guidance or support? When there is a void, we are left seeking validation from other sources of God’s existence, no matter the dangers or consequences awaiting us. How long must we see yellow tape and white chalk outlining victims to senseless obstacles? How long must we tolerate broken families, poverty and ignorance that paralyzes the hope that we chanted in unison for a Senator from Chicago who became the first African American President of the United States of America in 2008?
