To everyone who believes and desires to experience the power of God at work every day in and through your lives.
To my parents, Izu and Uju Arinze, who have modeled faith, service and the power of God right from the family, to business, to ministry. Your support and exemplary life is the foundation I have found to build on. Thank you.
To the One who anoints and establishes us.
Acknowledgments
This work is the result of some years of learning and experience from my mentors, teachers, supporters, pastors, friends, and family, who have invested in my knowledge and experience. For this, I am grateful.
Behind the scene of our small and great accomplishments in life are people – known and unknown, who have contributed one way or another and we owe some recognition and gratitude. Here are just a few who inspired this work:
To my parents and siblings, for your consistent support.
To the members of Dominion City Lakeside, who allowed me the privilege of sharing and testing ideas and principles of faith and the anointing.
To Tamunotonye Miebaka-Ogan, my friend, who has been a good hand to hold and grow spiritually with.
Introduction
The anointing is not an unpopular subject in the body of Christ today. However, what remains highly unpopular is the understanding of its purpose in the church and to the individual believer.
Years ago, while I was still in secondary school, we had these young university students who were members of the student chaplaincy of their school. They came frequently to preach during our Sunday evening services. And they soon began an unpopular teaching series to what we heard as secondary school students; It was on the anointing.
These young men brought to light a perspective of the anointing that ignited a deeper hunger in me for the working of this anointing. I began my quest ever since to understand the operation of the anointing in the life of a believer.
However, a year of service in the pastoral office of a small local church put me on the track of writing this book.
This book is a response to some questions I was asked by individuals who were hungry to see the anointing at work in their lives.
There is a popular statement used in Christian circles, among various protestant groups (especially among Pentecostals and Charismatics). It is the statement, The anointed man of God
. This statement in itself suggests many things, which reflect in the structure and attitude of some believers.
One of those suggestions is that there are some un-anointed men of God. Another suggestion is that only ‘men of God’ (those ministering under the five-fold offices as recorded in Ephesians 4) are anointed.
These suggestions or ideologies that some cultivate over time are very much evident in the way some believers approach the things of God, and how they see themselves as believers.
I believe one of the major issues or problems the church (body of Christ) faces today is rooted in the fact that believers amongst various circles are no longer taught the word of God, neither do they see the necessity of taking up responsibility to discover the word of God for themselves (because many are still babes). In effect, there is usually one hundred percent (100%) reliance on the ‘man of God’ to do everything, including pray for them.
The man of God was called and sent for the equipping of the saints to do the work of ministry. The assignment of those called into the five-fold is clearly stated in Ephesians 4:12; to equip the believers with necessary knowledge and skill in the word of righteousness to do ministry (serve the world with the Good News and nourish the body of Christ).
However, many believers are not equipped for the good works God has called us into. If indeed God has given to us all things that we need to live a victorious and godly life, then we must be cheating ourselves to remain ignorant of how to work out the deposits of God in us.
When it comes to the subject of the anointing, I have come across many people who have different notions and convictions about the anointing which I have never seen in scriptures; and they too have no word foundation for their basis.
If we as a body will be built up in the knowledge of Christ, we must be able to give ourselves completely to the word of God; because that is what builds us up and lets us into the great provisions of God in redemption (Acts 20:32).
Therefore, one truth we should be after is what God has said about the anointing and how potent it is for the believer today.
This work is a summary of simple truths that the bible teaches us about the believer’s anointing, the purpose of that anointing and how to apply the anointing to every area of life and release the power of God to get things done.
I am so excited to be able to share these truths with you and I believe that after you are done with this, your faith will be inspired and every gift of God in you will begin to find expression in your life and to the world.

God Calls
I f you have ever come across or gone through several ‘stories’ in the Bible, one thing you should have noticed is the consistent trend of a God-human relationship, which is usually started from the call of God to a human.
When I was a student, I served as a leader of a Bible study group. During this period, I discovered that this was one topic or series (as I usually called it then) that triggered the most questions and engagements from participants. They definitely wanted to know more about it. Some were confused about the very concept of having a calling, while some others were still trying to figure out what it meant to them personally. I loved teaching and steering conversations toward the topic, not because I had it all figured out, but because it brought the most engagement.
The very idea of discovering one’s calling or purpose is intriguing to most
