Married in Haste
39372.pngEight months ago, Nangsao Adele, twenty-two years old, had flown in to Singapore to enrol in the La Salle College of Fine Arts to study design. Indeed she had a fervent passion for design. But this was also an opportunity for her to flee from home—a home where she had been raised since the age of eight, a home which had now spanned its way into the vast Pattaya Bang Lamung District, one of the exclusive housing districts for the filthy rich. Yes, filthy was the word. It was the word to describe her adoptive father, who was beastly in all aspects. Thinking of this, she fretted frantically. She wanted to scream!
‘What would a girl like you who grew up with a silver spoon know about fixing a meal for the husband?’ Alvin Long had suggested wryly.
Adele was angry. ‘Do not jump to conclusions. You have yet to taste the food,’ she challenged him.
Lifting a spoonful of the soft wobbling tom yum tofu into his lips, he tasted it. Well . . .
‘Not too bad,’ he quipped with a consenting smile.
Adele sat next to her thirty-three-year-old husband at the long dining table. She raised her waxed brows in triumph.
The interior concept of the house came in contemporary design with an open floor plan. The lighting design in the house enunciated artistic statements. Textured and natural fabric of neutral colours was used. Very light wood tones and metal accent pieces graced the living room. Straight lines and unusual layouts reflected the main theme.
Nang Adele watched from the corner of her eyes as the remarkably good-looking CEO Alvin Long sipped the soup and took in mouthfuls of the pineapple rice together with the grilled pork collar slices.
He had removed his grey suit, leaving only a clean white shirt on. Nang Adele glanced at the broad square shoulders and strong biceps that pressed against the rolled-up sleeves.
He had deep eyes and a straight nose. His lips were well shaped. His fair face, cleanly shaven, made him look quiet and composed under his pair of silver-rimmed glasses. He ate silently, seemingly to enjoy each mouthful of food prepared by his bride of three days old.
Yes, they had just been legally married,
